The Stock Index has been updated to reflect new IPOs, acquisitions and new
criteria. Broadbase Software, Calico, eGain, E.piphany, Interactive
Intelligence, and Kana Communications have been added. Edify, Periphonics
have been removed due to acquisitions. Datawatch and Firstwave have been
removed due to below criteria market capitalizations. Siebel Systems stock
split on Monday as well.
Ask Jeeves, Inc. to Acquire Net Effect Systems
Ask Jeeves, Inc. announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire
privately-held Net Effect Systems, Inc., a provider of Web-based live help
services, in a tax-free, stock-for-stock transaction of 1.835 million
unregistered shares, representing approximately 5.5 percent pro-forma
ownership of Ask Jeeves on a fully-diluted, treasury stock basis. The
acquisition will enable Ask Jeeves to connect consumers to answers on the
Web through real-time, text-based communication with live agents and
remote experts, as well as through its established natural-language

Networking and Software Systems
Silknet Software, Inc. announced an alliance with Cisco Systems, Inc.
Under the agreement, Silknet will team with Cisco to offer corporations
the network foundation and Web-architected application. As part of the
joint technology efforts, Silknet will integrate its Silknet eBusiness
System(tm) with Cisco networking solutions. These include policy-based
network management, directory services, networking services, security,
quality of service, load balancing and other relevant existing and

Astea International Inc. announced that Northwest Pump and Equipment Co.,
a supplier of gas station and commercial pumping systems in the U.S.
Pacific Northwest, has selected ServiceAlliance,® Astea's service-centric

Calico Targeting Dot-Coms
