Analyzes the role of Universal Business Applications (UBA)
The growing interest in customer relationship management will have a
radical effect on the business applications vendor landscape, says
independent research and consulting company Ovum in a report published
today. CRM Strategies: Technology Choices for the Customer-focused
Business explains how the demands CRM makes on the vendor community will
result in a move towards Universal Business Applications (UBA): linked
suites encompassing front-office, business intelligence and ERP processes,
able to support CRM strategies as well as a wide range of other business
functions and initiatives. But UBAs will not be complete enough to fully
support CRM implementation for at least a year, and in the meantime the
alternative – integrating a complex mix of different kinds of software -
is not straightforward.
Y2K and Virus Update Intelligrams Warn Users
Aveo Inc. announced the availability of three additional free problem
prevention solutions that will save computer users headaches related to
the Y2K bug and computer viruses. Aveo's latest Intelligrams, the
intelligent on-screen messages that warn computer users about potential
problems with their systems, feature warnings about a non-Y2K-compliant
version of Windows '98, and guide users to update their Norton and McAfee
virus checkers with the latest anti-virus "inoculations". Only
users who have not updated their systems will see these Intelligrams,
because the Attune Service has targeting intelligence to determine which
users need to see relevant messages.
Onyx Software and IBM Offer One-Stop Financing for
CRM
Onyx Software and IBM Global Financing announced a relationship for
financing CRM solutions. As part of the agreement, IBM Global Financing
(IGF) will provide financing to customers for hardware, software, and
services associated with the rollout of Onyx Software's CRM system. This
relationship does not require any IBM hardware, software or services in
the transaction, but instead is dedicated to financing the customer's
choice of products and services.
toysmart.com Selects E-business Solutions from
Silknet
Silknet Software, Inc. announced that toysmart.com, an Internet's site for
``good toys,'' will implement Silknet eBusiness System(tm) and Silknet
eService(tm) to create personalized interactive customer relationships
through its e-commerce site, and its brick and mortar retail store in
Waltham, Massachusetts. Using Silknet's e-business solutions,
toysmart.com, Disney's commerce arm for the Buena Vista Internet Group's
Family.Com, will personalize the relationship customers (such as parents,
relatives, caregivers and educators) initiate once they visit toysmart's
store or online storefront.
FaceTime Creates the New eBusiness Infrastructure
FaceTime Communications announced FaceTime Message Exchange 3.0 suite of
services. The FaceTime Message Exchange 3.0 integrates inbound sales
assistance, inbound customer service and instant messaging-based customer
relationship management applications. New capabilities in 3.0 include ·a
“Customer Supportal” to provide personalized, integrated Web-based
access to business intelligence, news and reference information, site
administration and community.
Periphonics Introduces ScreenSentry
Periphonics Corporation has introduced ScreenSentry(TM), the latest
addition to its CallSPONSOR® suite of CTI enhanced call center solutions.
ScreenSentry provides audit recording of call center agent calls by
monitoring and recording the activity on their desktop applications. When
used with CallSentry, Periphonics' voice monitoring and recording tool,
ScreenSentry enables call center supervisors and managers to review and
score real time and recorded customer sessions, listening to the call
while observing the agent screens viewed during the session.
Pegasystems to Provide Rules-Based CRM to Credit
Union Services Corporation
Pegasystems Inc. announced an agreement with CU Commercial IT Pty Ltd, a
division of Credit Union Services Corporation (Australia) Limited (CUSCAL)
to provide loans origination and Internet banking solutions to credit
unions in Australia. Under the agreement, Pegasystems will provide an
enterprise-wide license allowing CUSCAL's Commercial IT unit to develop
and market front-end retail banking applications to its member
organizations and other credit unions. Applications may be implemented in
a staged rollout over the next five years.
Mustang Announces Partnership With NexCen
Technologies
Mustang Software, Inc. announced a joint agreement with NexCen(TM)
Technologies, Inc. which provides Customer Relationship Management (eCRM)
solutions for the telecommunications industry. The deal teams the two
companies in providing Envoy(TM), a packaged eCRM software solution for
telecommunications service providers. NexCen has licensed Mustang's
Internet Message Center(TM) platform to manage Internet and e-mail
transactions within Envoy.
Rightpoint Hires PeopleSoft CFO
RightPoint Inc. announced the appointment of Al Castino as chief financial
officer. Castino most recently served as CFO, secretary and senior vice
president of finance and administration at Peoplesoft.
