Avaya Acquires RouteScience Technologies
Avaya announced it has acquired substantially all of the assets of RouteScience Technologies, a maker of adaptive networking software (ANS) for enterprises and service providers. ANS monitors, assesses and automatically adjusts the network environment to optimize data traffic flow and enhance the performance of advanced applications, such as Internet Protocol (IP) telephony.

ePeople Announces New Version of CTMail
ePeople announced a new version of CTMail, email and site management software with enhanced capabilities that accelerate clinical trials through shared processes. After adding six life sciences customers earlier this month including McKesson BioServices, BridgeSite Clinical Research and ClinDatrix, ePeople expects continued momentum with the new version that extends CTMail beyond the shared collaboration of content and people to now include process and procedures.

HP and Cisco Align Support Services
Expanding their long-term global alliance, HP and Cisco Systems announced that they will deliver co-branded support services -- via a single point of contact -- to help customers maintain their enterprise networks on a global scale. The agreement is part of Cisco's Global Services Alliance program, which was established by Cisco in June 2004. HP has been selected by Cisco for this new alliance program focused on services.

Retailers Cutting Inventory Shrink With SPSS
Chase-Pitkin Home & Garden is using SPSS predictive analytics storewide as a backbone for a corporate-wide inventory information system that analyzes data to uncover and predict trends so as to make quicker, more strategic decisions. Chase-Pitkin has been able to identify the top 16 items that represent 50 percent of the chain's inventory shrinkage. By focusing on these 16 items, including monitoring them by store cameras, Chase-Pitkin managers were able to determine that shoplifters smuggled these particular items.
