EU Okays Oracle Bid For PeopleSoft
As expected, the European Commission announced that it has ruled that Oracle can proceed with its hostile acquisition attempt of PeopleSoft. The decision removes the last potential regulatory blockade in the takeover battle, which has lasted more than a year. The European Commission, an executive body that has regulatory powers in the European Union, said in a statement that it concluded that there is an absence of sufficient evidence that the bid would cause competitive harm in the business software sector.

Epicor Selected as Endorsed Vendor for Choice Hotels International
Epicor Software and Choice Hotels International have entered into an Endorsed Vendor agreement whereby Epicor will offer to provide its Scala Hospitality solution, part of the Epicor for Hospitality and Entertainment offering, to nearly 5,000 potential worldwide property franchisees of Choice Hotels International. Epicor's Scala Hospitality solution is a complete enterprise suite for hospitality organizations developed on Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2003 platform. CosmoCom Powers UniContact
CosmoCom announced that I-Contact Solutions is utilizing CosmoCall Universe as a primary component of UniContact, its new contact-center-in-a-box solution that combines customer interaction management (CIM) from CosmoCom with I-Contact's own customer relationship management (CRM) application. Interactive Intelligence Receives Patent
Interactive Intelligence received a U.S. patent this month for its staged predictive dialing system. The system helps organizations running outbound dialing campaigns to identify call stages -- such as "introduction" and "billing" -- and predict the length of each stage, in order to most effectively pace automated outbound calls. The Interactive Intelligence staged predictive dialing system is of special importance to firms governed by telemarketing rules given increasing pressure from the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, according to Brian Mewhinney, Interaction Dialer development team lead for Interactive Intelligence.

Tekelec Announces Record Q3 Results
Tekelec reported financial results for its third quarter ended September 30, 2004. Revenue for the third quarter of 2004 was $106.6 million, compared to $70.7 million in the third quarter of 2003.
