Verint Extends Networked Video Security Solution With Acquisition of RP Security
Verint Systems announced the acquisition of RP Sicherheitssysteme GmbH ("RP Security"), a developer of mobile video security technology for the transportation market. RP Security, headquartered in Flensburg, Germany, was founded in 1999 and has approximately 50 employees. RP Security's technology has been developed specifically for the mobile transportation security market and includes DSP-based mobile devices, video processing technology and fleet video management software.   (about Verint)

LumenVox Announces Version 5.0
LumenVox will be announcing Version 5.0 of their Speech Recognition Engine (SRE), LV Speech Tuner, and Speech Driven Information System (SDIS) at SpeechTEK 2004, in New York City from September 13th through September 16th.The latest version of the SRE offers improved performance, as well as support for Canadian Support. The main feature implemented in version 5.0 is support of the W3C's Speech Recognition Grammar Specification (SRGS) and Semantic Interpretation for Speech Recognition (SISR).

IMAS Deploying IP Convergence Solutions From Nortel Networks
The Municipal Institute for Health Assistance (IMAS) is deploying Internet Protocol convergence solutions from Nortel Networks to upgrade its communication network at the Hospital del Mar and Hospital de la Esperanza. These solutions will make it possible for IMAS to increase network reliability and expand bandwidth for voice, data and video medical applications at the two health centres while decreasing operating costs. SOFTBANK BB and Motive announced that SOFTBANK BB has chosen to build Motive's broadband management products into Yahoo! BB broadband services. After an extensive trial of Motive's Broadband Manager (BBM) and Customer Service Manager (CSM) products, SOFTBANK BB saw a significant improvement in the broadband subscriber experience and substantial cost-savings in several operational areas.
