Unless you've been stuck on a desert island for the last few years, you will probably have noticed that we are now in the midst of a monumental paradigm shift - that is, the change brought on by mobile technology. In this case, the magnitude of the change represents a revolution, not just an evolution out of what existed before. People will now be accessing enterprise data from portable devices. They will do so while standing in front of customers. They need fast access and they need the application flow to fit into the way in which they deal with customers. In short, a new breed of enterprise applications must be developed to fit into the customer-facing business processes.
