Innovation and Impact is Theme of Industry Day at Support Services Conference & Expo

NEEDHAM, Mass., Aug. 18 -- Ziff-Davis (NYSE: ZD - news) today announced that opening day of Support Services Conference & Expo - Fall '98 has been designated as Industry Day. The inaugural Industry Day will focus upon the effects that this industry is having on business, recognize significant new products and services, and celebrate recent successes within the industry. Support Services Conferences & Expo, the premier event for customer service and technical support, will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, September 8-11.

The customer service and technical support industry is one of the fastest growing segments within the IT market. In recognition of this, Support Services Conference & Expo provides help desk, technical support, customer service, call center, and sales and marketing professionals with innovative ideas and perspectives, new technologies and resources, and networking opportunities to increase productivity and improve relationships. Industry Day will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8 with welcoming remarks by San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, followed immediately by the Knowledge Maximizer Session. Kurt Johnson, Program Director of Services and Systems Management Strategies at META Group; Pete McGarahan, Executive Director of Help Desk Institute; and Bill Rose, Founder and Executive Director of Software Support Professionals Association will provide an overview of the new products and services that are being exhibited at Support Services Conference & Expo. The Expo floor will open following this session at 2:00 p.m., and several exhibitors will sponsor both afternoon and evening receptions at their booths to continue the Industry Day theme of open communication and relationship building.

The State-of-the-Industry Keynote, entitled ``Building Customer Loyalty through Innovation and Technology'', will wrap-up Industry Day. Beginning at 6:30 p.m., Moderator Jim Louderback, Vice President and Editorial Director of ZDTV; Mark Barrenechea, Vice President, Front Office Applications, Product Development, at Oracle Corporation [Nasdaq:ORCL - news]; Tony Zingale, President and CEO of Clarify Corporation, Inc.; and John Luongo, CEO of The Vantive Corporation [Nasdaq:VNTV - news] will share their accomplishments, challenges and visions of the future. Following this discussion, The Vantive Corporation will sponsor the Conference Party.
