M.A. Gedney Company Standardizes On Industry Leading PeopleSoft 8 Applications

Mid Market Consumer Products Manufacturer Reduces Costs with Pure Internet Software

PLEASANTON, Calif.--Nov. 19, 2001--PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT - news) today announced that consumer products manufacturer, M.A. Gedney Company has licensed PeopleSoft 8 pure internet enterprise applications. After evaluating its enterprise software requirements, Gedney determined that PeopleSoft would deliver the most integrated solution for managing its complex manufacturing process.

A mid-market manufacturer of pickles, sauces, and relishes, Gedney will deploy a comprehensive suite of PeopleSoft pure internet applications, including Manufacturing, Supply Chain Planning, Supplier Relationship Management, Distribution, Financial Management, and Portals.

PeopleSoft's commitment to the consumer products industry, and the broad functionality of its supply chain management solution were key reasons Gedney selected PeopleSoft. ``Because our manufacturing process is extremely complex, we needed a software solution with the capabilities to effectively manage the planning to production process,'' said Jeff Tuttle, CEO and president of M.A. Gedney Company. ``We selected PeopleSoft because they deliver a best-in-class solution that optimizes our manufacturing process from end-to-end.''

Gedney cited PeopleSoft's industry-leading portal technology as a key factor in its decision. PeopleSoft Portal Solutions bring an organization's customers, suppliers, and employees directly into critical day-to-day business processes through a secure, role-based portal. Using PeopleSoft's Portal Solutions, Gedney will collaborate more closely with its brokers and employees by sharing personalized business information. This collaboration will reduce response time to broker inquiries, and ensure accurate, timely disclosure of mission-critical business information. For example, PeopleSoft's Customer Portal will provide Gedney's brokers and largest retail customers access to key information, such as inventory levels and shipment status throughout the supply chain. By sharing important information with its employees, brokers and customers online, Gedney can automate operational processes, resulting in reduced costs and higher customer satisfaction.

PeopleSoft's pure internet applications enable Gedney to create a collaborative forecasting and planning process across their enterprise. This real-time collaboration significantly increases forecast accuracy and reduces excess inventories. Improved production planning will enable Gedney to reduce inefficiencies across its supply chain and better manage resource utilization.

PeopleSoft's industry-leading Financials Management applications will dramatically improve Gedney's ability to handle deduction management -- a critical business issue for Gedney and other consumer goods companies. Deductions are reductions taken by a customer from the invoiced amount billed by the manufacturer. Customers who believe they qualify for advertising or promotional allowances that have not been paid by the manufacturer often take deductions. These frequent deductions create a tremendous administrative burden for manufacturers to track and resolve. PeopleSoft's applications will lower Gedney's deduction costs through automated processing, and improved tracking and verification of deductions.

``PeopleSoft's pure internet applications deliver competitive advantages to consumer goods manufacturers such as Gedney,'' said Mike Frandsen, vice president and general manager of PeopleSoft's MarketPlace and Supply Chain Management Divisions. ``PeopleSoft's solution will enable Gedney to integrate the sourcing, planning, procurement, and replenishment processes. The integration of these critical business processes will streamline Gedney's complex manufacturing operations, and deliver significant increases in productivity and customer satisfaction.''

Gedney's implementation of PeopleSoft's pure internet solution will be managed by The Revere Group, a leading IT consulting firm. Gedney selected The Revere Group based on its technology expertise, and strong track record for rapid and successful PeopleSoft implementations. The implementation is scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2002.
