The European Investment Bank Deploys PeopleSoft 8 Global Payroll

EIB Benefits from PeopleSoft's Unique Payroll Architecture

PLEASANTON, Calif.--Oct. 9, 2001--PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT - news), the world's leading provider of collaborative enterprise software, today announced the European Investment Bank (EIB) has completed an implementation of PeopleSoft 8 Global Payroll.

As the financial development institution for the European Union, EIB chose PeopleSoft's pure internet Global Payroll solution to meet its complex international payroll requirements.

PeopleSoft 8 Global Payroll consists of a global payroll engine with country extensions that deliver regulatory and statutory rules by country. Non-technical staff can easily modify or create additional company and country specific payroll rules, enabling ease-of-deployment and a lower total cost of ownership. PeopleSoft 8 Global Payroll provides the EIB with a complete Pan European application framework, which includes specific country extensions that enforce country-by-country rules.

``PeopleSoft 8 Global Payroll's rules-based engine is extremely flexible,'' said Robert Johanns, IT project manager at European Investment Bank, Luxembourg. ``We are building our own payroll and pension rules on top of PeopleSoft's solid core HRMS application. Other solutions are not able to offer us this capability.''

PeopleSoft's pure internet architecture enabled the EIB to easily upgrade its 30 year-old payroll system to PeopleSoft 8 Global Payroll. In addition, the EIB has integrated their new payroll solution with its existing PeopleSoft 8 Human Resources Management System (HRMS) to provide its workforce with a comprehensive view of benefits and payroll information.

``PeopleSoft's Global Payroll solution provides EIB with the flexibility, scalability and functionality they require to extend their solution to meet future payroll requirements,'' said Guy Dubois, executive vice president of PeopleSoft International. ``This will enable EIB to meet the needs of new member states as they are added to the European Union.''

PeopleSoft 8 HRMS enables the EIB employees to perform critical personnel tasks online such as changing payroll deductions, enrolling in benefits programs, and accessing payroll information. The intuitive, self-service applications give the EIB's entire global workforce access to personalized human resources services and information on the web.

The EIB was set up in 1958 to raise money in the capital market and to finance projects that contribute to the balanced development of European nations. The non-profit organisation employs 1,000 staff and has a financial portfolio value in excess of 100 billion euros.
