PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2003--PeopleSoft (Company
Profile, Past
Stories, Case
Studies), Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT - News) today announced that the University of Pittsburgh has selected PeopleSoft's industry-leading solutions for Higher
Education, including Student Administration, PeopleSoft Enterprise Portal and Customer Relationship Management (CRM). The PeopleSoft applications will provide more
than 32,000 students, staff and faculty on five campuses with real-time access to administrative and academic information.
"After an extensive evaluation of enterprise software vendors through a comprehensive process, PeopleSoft emerged as our clear choice," said Robert F. Pack,
vice provost of the University of Pittsburgh. "The PeopleSoft solution provides us with the capability to enhance our level of service to students by fully integrating all
aspects of the student's life from recruitment through graduation. PeopleSoft's flexibility and scalability provide a seamless environment through ease of integration into our
existing systems and applications. In addition, it will provide critical management information in real-time to ensure the highest levels of responsiveness by the University to
changing circumstances. The Web-based architecture of PeopleSoft applications can support our academic mission today and meet the technology requirements of
tomorrow. We are enthusiastic about the positive impact the PeopleSoft implementation will have on the entire University community."
The University of Pittsburgh chose PeopleSoft's enterprise applications to integrate the academic and administrative systems of its five campuses. The school's legacy
system, based on SCT mainframe-based software, could not easily integrate with third-party applications, making the system inflexible and expensive to maintain.
PeopleSoft's pure Internet solution will dramatically transform the University of Pittsburgh's system into a real-time enterprise environment. Students will gain anytime,
anywhere access to enrollment, financial aid and tuition information, all through a standard Web browser. The system will also simplify the daily activities of campus
employees by eliminating inefficient administrative activities. For example, re-keying information into multiple systems will become unnecessary, streamlining operations in
admissions and financial aid.
PeopleSoft Global Services will implement the suite of applications based on its proven product expertise and rapid deployment capabilities.
"The University of Pittsburgh took a very disciplined approach to ensure that the technology decisions they made would provide a strong foundation for their campus
now and into the future," said Kevin Horigan, PeopleSoft's managing director for Education and Government. "Serving more than 650 higher education customers
worldwide, PeopleSoft offers the most comprehensive solution available to colleges and universities. PeopleSoft's expertise in higher education, paired with our flexible Pure
Internet Architecture(TM), proved to be a winning combination for the University of Pittsburgh."
