Announces New Solutions for Manufacturing, Healthcare and Communications
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 6, 2003--Today at its 2003 Leadership Summit, PeopleSoft Inc. (Nasdaq:PSFT - News) (Company
Profile, Past
Stories, Case
Studies) announced new industry-specific Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) solutions for Manufacturing, Healthcare and Communications.
Building on the strength of PeopleSoft's industry-leading EPM platform, the new solutions will provide pre-packaged performance metrics and benchmarks, domain-specific
data models and industry-specific analytic applications. As a result, customers will gain real-time access to critical information that enables them to adapt quickly to
changing market conditions, regulatory requirements and new business practices.
"Organizations today need industry-specific solutions to drive performance and address their industry's business processes and regulations, but they don't have time or
budget for lengthy implementations and customizations," said Lee Geishecker, research vice president, Gartner, Inc. "A robust analytic architecture with
packaged content that supports both cross-industry and industry-specific analytics will be instrumental in handling an enterprise's performance management
requirements."
PeopleSoft is widely recognized by analysts and customers as a leading provider of performance management solutions. Organizations worldwide use PeopleSoft EPM's
state-of-the-art analytics to gain a complete view of their enterprise and track performance in real-time. PeopleSoft EPM is built on a common standards-based platform that
can integrate data from any system, reducing the need for expensive custom development and ongoing maintenance of multiple integration technologies.
"In this tough economy, there is increasing pressure for organizations to respond quickly to changing market conditions and capitalize on new opportunities as they
arise," said Chuck Teller, vice president and general manager, PeopleSoft Enterprise Solutions Group. "PeopleSoft EPM enables customers to analyze key
industry metrics and immediately adapt to changes, giving them a distinct advantage over less agile competitors."
EPM for Manufacturing
Shortened product lifecycles, decreased manufacturing cycle times and increased cost pressures are forcing manufacturers to transition from inventory-driven to demand-
driven business processes. PeopleSoft is responding to this need with a Manufacturing Scorecard that supports the Supply Chain Council's Supply Chain Operations
Reference (SCOR) model. The scorecard will enable managers to view critical metrics such as delivery performance, fill rate, inventory turns and cash-to-cash cycle time,
helping them to effectively manage in today's volatile business environment.
EPM for Healthcare
Hospitals are experiencing significant budget constraints due to lower reimbursement levels, reduced grants and increased regulation. According to the American Hospital
Association, only 12 percent of hospitals in the U.S. are profitable. In order to preserve the quality of care, hospitals must respond by streamlining non-clinical processes,
reducing material costs and ensuring that managers have continuous visibility into key financial and operational metrics.
PeopleSoft's Healthcare Scorecard will provide healthcare management with the tools to manage through these turbulent times. The scorecard will offer a visual dashboard
that enables managers to monitor daily and monthly performance against strategic and operational goals. Organizations can track key metrics involving hospital staffing,
surgery utilization and materials management contract compliance, enabling managers to increase capacity and minimize excess expenses. PeopleSoft EPM for
Healthcare will also provide a real-time view of metrics critical to an organization's strategy, including average length of stay, case mix index and census levels.
EPM for Communications
The communications industry is facing unprecedented overcapacity and dramatic increases in customer churn. Controlling capital and operational expenditures and
improving customer profitability are critical priorities.
Leveraging PeopleSoft's EPM framework, Profitability Management for Communications will enable service providers to focus on retaining the most profitable customers and
improving operational performance. The solution is being designed to enable service providers to analyze network usage data from Call Detail Records (CDR) and costs to
acquire, activate, service and bill customers to understand the real profitability of each customer segment.
All three of the EPM for Industries solutions will be available in the fourth quarter of 2003.
