UniPress Expands Penetration in Government Market; Federal Offices Deploy FootPrints to Drive e-Government Initiatives

Government Agencies Implement Web-based Solution to Centralize Internal and External Support Operations, Deliver Self-Service, and Automate Workflow via the Internet

EDISON, NJ (October 23, 2002) – UniPress Software, Inc., a leading provider of help desk and customer problem management software, today announced that a number of new federal government customers have deployed FootPrints® in the last quarter to accelerate their e-government initiatives.

FootPrints offers a 100% web-based software system that government organizations can use to centralize their internal and external support operations, and streamline workflow for various other projects. A range of federal customers are implementing FootPrints to speed internal help desk activities, automate task management for numerous departments, and deliver highly secure, self-service access to online information and support.

FootPrints offers a cost-effective investment for government organizations looking to deploy technology for multiple e-government projects. The US Department of Labor, Justice Federal Credit Union, and The Engineering Sciences and Applications Division of Los Alamos National Laboratory are among the federal government users that recently implemented FootPrints for a range of initiatives – from recording issues, requests, and bug reports for the help desk, to tracking departmental projects and paperwork, to implementing interactive citizen and employee response systems via the web. The software is fast-to-implement and easy-to-configure for multiple projects, users, groups, divisions, and departments. It can be flexibly customized without external consulting or support. Additionally, FootPrints does not require extensive maintenance and administration or dedicated support personnel, greatly lowering total cost of ownership.

As a web-based system, FootPrints offers seamless, browser-based access for users in any location. FootPrints’ multi-level security facilities ensure authorized access to all information and activities. Government organizations can track and manage a range of issues, projects, and tasks via the web, and use FootPrints’ comprehensive knowledge base to centrally store and quickly access information and solutions online.

Government agencies can also use FootPrints to enable online self-service, providing centralized access to the system for internal and remote personnel, and to citizens, partners, and other government users around the country. FootPrints meets the standards for Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, enabling government organizations to comply with the requirement of making electronic and information technology to be accessible for persons with disabilities.

FootPrints includes extensive email capabilities and escalation features to alert designated personnel of new issues and requests, while providing government agencies with a way to communicate status and other updates to both internal and external users. A separate add-on module is available with extended security options for Microsoft® Exchange 5.5 users working with FootPrints, leveraging the powerful email encryption capabilities in Exchange 5.5 to ensure the fully secure exchange of FootPrints email data using Exchange and Microsoft Outlook®. FootPrints also features extensive reporting capabilities, with built-in and custom reports for government agencies to quickly and easily monitor activities on a variety of levels, identify and track trends, and continuously enhance operations as necessary. FootPrints reports are also useful in helping departments align budgets and resources with activity,  justify headcount, and more.

FootPrints is already in use at hundreds of government agencies and departments at the federal, state, and local level, including the US Navy, US Army, Department of Transportation, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, State of Vermont, Arizona Board of Education, City of Ventura, CA, and the Toronto Public Library.

Government Pricing Options
Special government pricing for FootPrints starts at $2996 for a 3-agent license. FootPrints is available on the GSA schedule (contract number GS-35F-0391L). Volume, concurrent, and site license pricing is also available. DOD organizations seeking to purchase FootPrints on the GSA schedule should reference CCR number 742065.
