New FootPrints Email Encryption Support Provides an Advanced, Secure Platform to Safeguard eMail Communications To and From the Help Desk

Microsoft Exchange Users Can Add An Extra Layer of Security to FootPrints Web Sessions with Email Encryption for Incoming & Outgoing Messages

EDISON, NJ (September 24, 2002) – UniPress Software, Inc., a leading provider of help desk and customer problem management software, today announced the availability of FootPrints® Email Encryption, offering new security options for Microsoft® Exchange 5.5 users working with FootPrints and FootPrints for Exchange, UniPress’ web-based help desk and customer problem management software products. FootPrints Email Encryption is an easy-to-use middleware tool that uses the email encryption capabilities in Exchange 5.5, working with Exchange and Microsoft Outlook® to ensure the fully secure exchange of FootPrints email data.

The 100% web-based FootPrints products offer comprehensive, centralized problem tracking, support task automation, self-service online, knowledge management, email integration, and additional capabilities. Strong, multi-level security is included with standard FootPrints products to ensure that users’ web sessions are always private and protected when using an SSL enabled web server. With FootPrints Email Encryption, organizations using Exchange 5.5 and Outlook can incorporate expanded security features into their FootPrints installation, and fully encrypt their incoming and outgoing plain text email messages traveling across a LAN or the Internet.

FootPrints Email Encryption integrates seamlessly with FootPrints, adding the highest level of security to the software’s extensive email capabilities for incoming and outgoing communications. Organizations can fully protect information in FootPrints emails for both internal and external users, encrypting the transmission and receipt of all email messages, including proprietary, sensitive or private messages. Email updates to customers and employees, notification alerts to technicians, and other messages – along with file attachments – are fully encrypted. The module decrypts incoming email before it goes into the database. In addition, all email sent by FootPrints is encrypted on the FootPrints server, so it is properly secured whether sent over the internal LAN or the Internet.

“FootPrints’ security features are a key draw for our customers at government agencies, and other corporations that manage highly sensitive data,” said Mark Krieger, President of UniPress. “FootPrints Email Encryption offers a way to extend that proven security to email interactions, so our customers can guarantee total privacy and protection for their inbound and outbound communications.”

The FootPrints products offer a range of features for organizations to build a highly secure environment for their help desk, customer support, and other business operations. The software offers completely password-protected data access and entry, and supports password authentication using Microsoft® Windows NT, LDAP, Linux, Unix, or built-in FootPrints Authentication. FootPrints can also be easily set up to run in an SSL environment to secure all web sessions.
