SupportSoft Introduces Automated Installation Software for Home Networking

New HomeNet™ Solution Enables Service Providers to Speed Roll-Out of Value-Added Services

Anaheim, Calif. -- Broadband Plus -- December 3, 2002-- SupportSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRT), a leading provider of service and support automation software, today introduced HomeNet™, software designed to simplify home networking. HomeNet enables broadband service providers to offer subscribers an easy solution for pre-qualifying, installing, configuring and receiving ongoing support for their home network -- all helping them to ease connection and use of computing devices within their household.

SupportSoft HomeNet software is the first intelligent automated solution for home networking, allowing service providers to accelerate revenue generation by deploying value added services.  By automating network installation and ongoing support, HomeNet also helps service providers to drive down the cost of supporting complex new services.

According to Jupiter Research, almost 23 million US households will have utilitarian PC-centric home networks by 2006.[1]  They also claim that as an aspect of digital ubiquity, home networking creates opportunities to extend the availability of interactive services. Home networking provides benefits to both the service provider and subscriber, offering the potential for incremental revenue to the service provider and enabling consumers to take better advantage of the benefits of their broadband connection.

“HomeNet is the latest product resulting from our deep customer relationships within the broadband industry,” said Radha Basu, Chairman and CEO of SupportSoft, Inc.  “Working together with these industry leaders, our goal is to help deliver on the promise of broadband to change the way home subscribers work, play and learn.  Easing the installation of a home network is just a start.”

SupportSoft’s HomeNet provides the ability to streamline the entire process of wired or wireless home networking.  Product capabilities include pre-qualification to assist in determining if users have the right software and hardware to enable home networking; configuration and settings protection to establish if the computer is correctly connected to the router, ISP network, ISP service or the Internet; resource sharing to handle the entire configuration process for setting up features such as file sharing; and ongoing proactive support.  This provides the subscriber with personalized self-service and assisted service options to easily target and quickly fix problems when they arise.

SupportSoft counts among its customers 6 out of the top 7 North American broadband service providers.  SupportSoft has the only proven and fully integrated software solution for comprehensive service automation – SmartAccess™ for installation of a broadband connection, the Service Automation Suite™ for ongoing service and support, and now HomeNet for automated installation of the value-added service of home networking.

HomeNet is available immediately for purchase directly from SupportSoft.
