SupportSoft Named One of Silicon Valley's "Rising Stars" by Deloitte & Touche "Fast 50" Program848% Growth Attributed to Technology Innovation & Customer FocusRedwood City, Calif. -- October 28, 2002 -- SupportSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRT), a leading provider of support automation software, has been named a Rising Star on the 2002 Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 program for Silicon Valley, a ranking of the 50 fastest growing technology companies in the area. The special category of Rising Star winners are ranked based on the percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues from the five-year period of 1997 to 2001. "Technology remains an innovative force of the economy as evidenced by the tremendous growth rates of the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 winners. SupportSoft is honored as one of the fastest growing companies in the Silicon Valley and is now a contender for Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 ranking of the fastest growing technology companies in North America," said Roy Avondet Managing Partner Northern California Technology, Media & Telecommunications Group of Deloitte & Touche. SupportSoft's CEO Radha Basu credits technology innovation and customer focus with the company's 848% percent revenue growth from 1997-2001. She said, "At a time when technology companies are struggling to grow, making the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 50 as a Rising Star is a testament to SupportSoft's ability to adjust to market conditions and deliver real customer value through support automation. Our software enables companies to drive down operational expense, even as it helps them drive up employee productivity and customer satisfaction. And it's a key reason why we've been able to achieve five consecutive quarters of revenue growth." SupportSoft's increase in revenues of 848 percent from 1997 to 2001 resulted in a sixth ranking overall in the Rising Star category of the Fast 50 for Silicon Valley. To qualify for the Fast 50, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 1997 and $1,000,000 in 2001, must be public or private companies headquartered in Silicon Valley, and be "technology companies" defined as companies that own proprietary technology which contributes to a significant portion of the company's operating revenues or devotes a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology. Winners of the 20 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in the Deloitte & Touche Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America's top 500 fastest growing technology companies.
