Steve Furney-Howe Joins SupportSoft as Vice President of Global Channels And International SalesExecutive Brings 15 Years of Business Building Experience to Support Automation Software CompanyREDWOOD CITY, Calif., Aug. 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SupportSoft, Inc. (Nasdaq: SPRT - News), the world's leading provider of support automation software, today announced the appointment of Steve Furney-Howe as vice president of global channels and international sales. Furney-Howe comes to SupportSoft with 15 years of operating and sales experience at Sun Microsystems, where he managed Sun's software business in Asia for the past four and a half years."Steve's proven success in building partner and channel relationships plus his strategic planning skills, will be instrumental in shaping the continued expansion of our international presence, as well as providing leadership to our growing list of indirect reseller partners," said Radha Basu, chairman and chief executive officer of SupportSoft. Furney-Howe most recently managed the iPlanet/Sun ONE software business throughout Asia-Pacific (Japan, China, Korea, ASEAN, India, Australasia) for Sun Microsystems. Prior to this role, Furney-Howe directed Asia Pacific enterprise software and Java technology sales for Sun. He also served for six years in Sun's Japan subsidiary, as Director of Strategy and Planning and as Director of the ISV and System Integrators Sales Division. Prior to that he held management positions in the Company's product marketing, professional services, and customer services divisions. He is a recipient of Sun's Leadership Award. Furney-Howe is a graduate of Stanford University, where he also continued studies to secure his MBA. In conjunction with Furney-Howe joining SupportSoft to lead international sales and channel development, the Company also announced that four-year SupportSoft veteran Tony Rodoni will take on the role of General Manager for its OEM software initiatives, helping build strategic sales relationships with manufacturers of both applications and hardware devices. Prior to his new role, Rodoni was the General Manager, SupportSoft EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). Finally, to ensure that its direct sales efforts continue to receive the Company's full attention, SupportSoft promoted Bob Glowienke to vice president North America. Glowienke has a two-year tenure with the Company, and will direct SupportSoft's sales operations targeted to enterprise customers within the region. Ratan Tipirneni continues to lead SupportSoft's service provider initiative as General Manager.
