TechExcel Announces Support for MySQL(email this article)

San Jose, CA, (April 10, 2003) – At today’s MySQL Users Conference and Expo, TechExcel, Inc. (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies), a leader in high-end, configurable and integrated CRM, help desk, and defect-tracking solutions, announced that all its products now support MySQL, the world’s most popular open source database.

TechExcel’s support for MySQL is a significant event for the open source community.  Historically, high-end CRM products, like TechExcel’s, have only supported more expensive databases, like Oracle and MS SQL Server.  An open source database server has not been an option for enterprise solutions.

“TechExcel customers have requested support for MySQL for a long time” says Tieren Zhou, president and founder of TechExcel. “We see MySQL 4.1 as an enterprise- strength database server with the performance needed to run mission-critical business software.  We have therefore included MySQL as one of the standard database servers supported by our products.  Our customers will be pleased to have an open source database option that is low-cost but does not compromise performance, power, or reliability.”
