Schlumberger Operating Unit Voted Best in Customer Support

GeoQuest Customer Support Given STAR Award

HOUSTON, December 13, 1999—Schlumberger announced today that its GeoQuest operating unit is a 1999 winner of the 10th annual Software Technical Assistance Recognition (STAR) Award. GeoQuest is the only company in the oil and gas industry to win this prestigious award.

Sponsored by the Software Support Professionals Association (SSPA), the STAR Award recognizes customer service excellence among software support professionals. The award has become a coveted prize since the SSPA established the program in 1990.

“Even though this company develops and supports a very complex package to petroleum companies to optimize the value of their oil and gas reservoirs, GeoQuest has accomplished some impressive numbers for real-time support, a short average response rate, a very high call answer rate and 97% customer satisfaction rating,” said Bill Rose, SSPA founder and executive director. “To support the complex products they have and to reach these numbers is reflective of why they are a 1999 STAR Award winner in the Complex Support Category.”

STAR Award winners are chosen by a peer group of SSPA Advisory Board members. SSPA rules require that companies in the complex support category must illustrate a consistently high level of support for mission-critical applications used in scientific, engineering, health care or other highly technical environments. Winning companies in this category must prove that the products they support are indeed complex and that the support requires specialized higher education skills.
