GeoQuest Customer Support Wins STAR Award Again

Prestigious Award Recognizes Outstanding Technical Support for Second Consecutive Year

HOUSTON, October 23, 2000— GeoQuest, an operating unit of Schlumberger Oilfield Services, announced today that its North America Customer Support group is a winner of the 11th annual Software Technical Assistance Recognition (STAR) Award for the second consecutive year. GeoQuest is the only company in the oil and gas industry that has ever won a STAR Award.

Sponsored by the Software Support Professionals Association (SSPA), the STAR Award recognizes customer service excellence among software support professionals. The award has become a coveted prize since the SSPA established the program in 1990.

“Winning a STAR Award in the complex support category two consecutive years solidifies GeoQuest’s position as the leader in technical software support,” said Bill Rose, SSPA founder and executive director. “This is a tremendous achievement.”

STAR Award winners are chosen by a peer group of SSPA Advisory Board members. SSPA rules require that companies entering the competition in the complex support category illustrate a consistently high level of support for mission-critical applications used in scientific, engineering, health care or other highly technical environments. Winning companies must prove their product support is complex and requires specialized higher education skills.
