SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 23, 2003-- Siebel Systems (Company
Profile, Past
Stories, Case
Studies), Inc. (Nasdaq:SEBL - News), a leading provider of multichannel business applications software, today announced that EMI Industries, a leader in
custom point-of-sale and food-handling equipment for the food retailing industry, is reporting a substantial return on its investment in Siebel MidMarket Edition (MME),
helping EMI progress toward its aggressive revenue goals.
"Through a combination of revenue increases and cost reductions, we received hundreds of thousands of dollars through productivity improvements in 2002 as a result
of our deployment," said EMI Vice President David Hahmann. "If the performance of the solution continues at current levels, the annual benefit to EMI is
calculated to be approximately $2.2 million."
EMI selected Siebel MME in December 2000 as a core element of a corporate customer relationship management strategy designed to provide the company a competitive
advantage and help grow its annual revenues from $25 million to $75 million by the end of 2006. Siebel Premier Platform Partner Surebridge, Inc. assisted EMI with the
implementation, which involved customizing the Siebel modules and integrating them into EMI's core operations to create a unified communication tool for employees,
partners, and customers. Surebridge continues to support and manage the solution remotely.
With the Siebel solution, EMI engineers now have a 360-degree view of customer information, which enables them to work more effectively with customers on designs,
quotes, orders, and long-term projects. In addition, customers can instantly view, update, and approve designs and enter and track service requests over the Web. In total,
EMI cut 10 percent to 20 percent from the time required to complete a custom project from proposal to order completion. Customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, and
productivity have all risen.
A return on investment study showed that the Siebel solution is delivering substantial time savings throughout EMI, including a 25 percent improvement in the time it takes
to verify delivery information, a 90 percent improvement in resolving accounts receivable inquiries, and a 15 percent to 30 percent improvement in the management of sales
opportunities. EMI is applying the sales capacity freed by Siebel MME to account development activities and is taking advantage of Siebel MME campaign functionality to
generate new business. The company also has realized additional revenue from the sale of ancillary products through its online portal.
Because Siebel MME allows easy, centralized access to all documents associated with a project, it has eliminated manual efforts required to satisfy requests for drawings,
costs quotes, and other information. Engineers estimate that they are saving nearly four hours per week as a result of automating these activities. Automated reporting is
saving sales managers approximately three hours per week because they no longer have to generate reports manually. Field service representatives report that the amount
of time required to complete paperwork has dropped from two hours down to 15 minutes per week.
"Having a single repository that makes all information available to our engineers, salespeople, field service representatives, customers, and partners is a huge benefit to
EMI," Hahmann said. "Information is the lifeblood of our business, and Siebel is the heart that keeps pumping that information through the
organization."
