Australia's Leading Broadband Provider Delivers Industry's Fastest, Most Cost-Effective Order Management and Fulfilment System

CRM Headline News

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2003-- Siebel Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:SEBL - News) (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies) today announced that Optus XYZed has reduced provisioning time by 25 percent for its broadband digital subscriber line (DSL) services. In only 12 months, Australia's leading wholesale broadband provider increased revenue and reduced connection costs through its Siebel Communications customer order management and service fulfillment application.

The order management system--ZedCare--is the fastest, most advanced and cost-effective eBusiness provisioning solution available in the Australian wholesale telecommunications market.

Since the deregulation of the Australian telecommunications market, DSL services have increased rapidly; DSL connections rose by 350 percent over the last year, according to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC). With more than 35 business-grade DSL providers in Australia, competitors depend heavily on their ability to minimize the time and cost required to connect new customers to their network.

Using Siebel Communications--an eBusiness solution designed for the specific needs of the telecommunications sector--ZedCare's end-to-end customer order management and service fulfillment system integrates and streamlines the connection process. Web email requests are efficiently routed to a DSL retailer, connections are ordered through the telephone and completed at the end-customer site.

Optus XYZed has been able to reduce the total connection time for a new DSL customer from over 20 days to 15 days. The company has reduced order management time by 50 percent and has decreased the service design process from two days to two minutes. The ZedCare system has also enabled Optus XYZed to reduce market delivery time for new products from over three months to four weeks.

Siebel eBusiness Applications integrate seamlessly with a third-party locator map, which identifies whether DSL is available at the end-customer site, and with in-house systems at Telstra, which leases copper lines, and Lucent, which performs the network connections and maintenance. These predefined set of proven business processes enable the systems to confirm when each critical phase is completed and provides alerts when action is required.
