James L. Speros Named CEO of SidewareAppointment Marks Completion of Executive Team and Relocation of Company's Corporate Headquarters to Reston, VA's High-Tech CorridorRESTON, VA, Oct. 5 - Sideware (OTC (BB): SDWSF and CDNX: SYD.U), a leading developer of customer service solutions for e-businesses, announced today that James L. Speros, president and COO since 1998, has been named CEO of Sideware, effective October 16, 2000. Owen Jones, Sideware's current CEO, will continue his involvement in the company as a strategic advisor and a member of Sideware's Board of Directors.``I've decided that now is the right time to turn executive control of Sideware over to Jim,'' said Owen Jones. ``A critical factor for the timing of this announcement is that Jim and his executive management team are all together in Reston, Va. They are all highly motivated, experienced professionals working toward common goals under one roof. The geographic distance between this group and myself could have impeded execution and this is not in the best interest of the company, its employees and shareholders. Jim is a natural leader and a winner. He knows how to get the best out of his team. I have great confidence in Jim's abilities to make Sideware a market leader,'' said Jones. With the recent appointment of Oracle veteran Rahul Bardhan as Sideware's CTO, this announcement expands the role of James Speros and marks the rollout of Sideware's executive team. Stewart Walchli, Sideware CFO, and Scott Friedlander, the company's executive vice president, comprise the rest of Sideware's executive team. The company will continue to house its development center in its main Canadian office in Vancouver, B.C. ``Sideware is moving full speed ahead with its world-class technology development center and its web-based customer service solutions and I'm excited to be taking the helm at this important time in its history,'' said James Speros. ``Owen founded and directed this company to the point where we are now implementing our go-to-market strategy with an increasing number of customers and partners, and I'm confident of continued success due to the strong foundation created by Owen.'' Prior to Sideware, Speros garnered management experience in the real estate industry and as the president and owner of two successful Canadian Football League teams: the Baltimore Stallions and the Montreal Alouettes. Speros also spent five years in the National Football League with the Washington Redskins and the Buffalo Bills. He earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Clemson University in South Carolina. Speros serves on the Boards of Directors of eIncubate and BrainTech, both publicly traded companies. At the invitation of Congressman Tom Davis, Speros belongs to the Congressional Technology Roundtable of Northern Virginia, a forum that assists policymakers in their work to create an appropriate business climate for the area's high-tech firms. For the past five years, he has been an investor and organizer of Virginia Baseball Inc., an organization whose goal is to attract a professional baseball team to Northern Virginia.
