ServicePower opens up new market with DigiVision Satellite Services

Joint development work will lead to distributed scheduling in the independent contractor market

ServicePower (LSE: SVR), a global developer and supplier of field service scheduling software, today announced that it has signed an initial contract worth $250,000 with DigiVision Satellite Services, the largest independent installer of satellite dishes in the U.S., to provide intelligent, Web-centered scheduling to small, independent contractors. Future revenues, which could be worth a potential $3M per year to ServicePower, will be generated from a transaction based charging system according to the number of jobs scheduled.

The jointly developed service management application from ServicePower and DigiVision, called Fulcrum, will enable independent contractors to manage their work schedules more efficiently using intelligent, Web-centered scheduling technology.  By accessing a password-controlled Web site, they will be able to download their daily work schedules for all of their jobs, including, in particular, those booked by DigiVision.

It is estimated that small contract companies in the U.S. perform over two billion jobs per year.  This number is expected to grow even further, as larger companies continue to outsource their service requirements to self-employed contractors.  “We believe there are over three million technicians working for small, independent contractor companies with less than fifty employees,” commented Ian MacKinnon, president of ServicePower.  “Traditionally, these companies have been unable to justify the cost of using the intelligent scheduling technology offered by Fulcrum.  By using a Web-centered approach, we have been able to offset that cost by increasing the number of jobs each contractor can complete per day.  With the financial benefits this will achieve, and by streamlining the administrative process, Fulcrum becomes a very attractive proposition for independent contractors.”

“We are continually searching for improved technology that will provide greater efficiency and customer service,” stated Thomas Hunt, co-founder and president of DigiVision.  “After working on Fulcrum with ServicePower, we believe that ServicePower’s unique real-time scheduling and appointment offering capability will provide the functionality required.  The proven scalability will enable us to address this opportunity not just in DigiVision’s traditional market, but in other industries where independent contractors are utilized.”
