Studies) (Nasdaq: RNOW - News) today announced that CEO Greg Gianforte will host a Software & Information Industry Association's (SIIA) CEO Roundtable entitled "Challenges and Opportunities of SaaS Delivery Model." The event will bring together top business executives to discuss the issues surrounding software-as-a-service (SaaS), also referred to as hosted or on demand software.
Under the SaaS delivery model, software vendors host and manage all the infrastructure required to support their solutions -- enabling customers to access those solutions from their desktops via the Web. This allows customers to reap the benefits of the vendor's solution without the upfront capital costs and ongoing IT expenses associated with deploying and integrating software on internal server infrastructure. Vendors using the SaaS model can also provision greater scalability and infrastructure redundancy than software customers can typically provision for themselves.
The SaaS model can also make vendors more accountable for the success of their customers, since it keeps them closely engaged and -- in the case of renewable licensing agreements -- makes their revenue dependent on customer satisfaction.
