RightNow Technologies (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies), the world’s leading provider of hosted customer service and support solutions, today announced it has established two continuing scholarships for Montana State University’s Computer Science Department.  At $4,000 each, the two scholarships represent the largest annual scholarship awards offered through the department.

In granting the scholarships, RightNow acknowledges MSU’s significant contribution to the company’s success.  Almost 40 percent of RightNow’s employees located at the corporate headquarters in Bozeman are MSU alumni, including Chief Financial Officer Susan Carstensen and Vice President of Customer Care Steve Daines.

“MSU and Bozeman have provided RightNow with a workforce that is second to none,” Greg Gianforte, CEO and founder of RightNow, said.  “We are more than happy to return the favor by supporting the university and other local institutions that contribute so much to the quality of life that we have here in the Greater Gallatin Valley region.”

RightNow has provided financial, adjunct lecturing, and technical support to MSU in the past, but these scholarships represent its first formalized financial contribution to the university.

“The relationship between RightNow and MSU is a wonderful example of community partnership,” Geoff Gamble, MSU’s President, said.  “Having a successful technology company like RightNow as such a close and supportive neighbor is a tremendous benefit for both MSU’s computer science students and the university as a whole.”

RightNow and its employees are actively involved in a wide range of community activities throughout Bozeman.  The company recently contributed $25,000 to the Bozeman Public Library Construction Fund, in addition to $3,500 to match its employees’ food bank contributions.  Employees at the Bozeman office in 2002 donated 63 pints of blood and spent hundreds of business hours involved in programs such as Habitat for Humanity and the Child Advancement Project (CAP) under RightNow’s Community Service Initiative.  RightNow also has provided complimentary licenses of its award-winning customer service and support software to community organizations such as Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Gallatin County and local libraries.
