No Glass Ceiling At Peppers and Rogers Group

Vision for 1to1 Job Search Strategy Promotes Karen Voghel to Managing Partner

    Stamford, CT.  December 12, 2000.  In early 1999 Karen Voghel gambled on her future with Peppers and Rogers Group, when she literally bet her bonus on her ability to build a new business, within the walls of the internationally recognized Customer Relationship Management consulting and media firm. Voghel founded 1to1® Executive Search, a traditional yet unique recruitment practice that raised the bar of achievement within Peppers and Rogers Group, while creating a one-of-a-kind, customer-focused service to meet the demands of the changing business world.

Voghel’s verve, astute business sense and persuasive sales skills have catapulted her to Managing Partner of Peppers and Rogers Group. Appointed this fall, Voghel is the seventh woman in the 300 employee company to rise to partnership level, a total that represents 25% of the total number of partners, including Peppers and Rogers' founder, Martha Rogers, Ph.D.  

Voghel’s vision for 1to1 Executive Search came from listening to a host of Peppers and Rogers Group clients plead for experienced employees to help them “do” CRM.  She developed a business plan that addressed their needs, creating a niche in the recruitment business that seeks top level executives with proven 1to1 skills and experience needed to drive effective one-to-one marketing and Customer Relationship Management initiatives. In less than a year of establishing the search firm,  Voghel’s efforts generated nearly a million dollars in retained search fees and as a bonus, placed more than 40 consulting professionals within Peppers and Rogers Group’s own ranks.

Voghel has earned high praise among her clients as well, especially for “giving away” her expertise on-line-- voluntarily assessing resumes and providing personalized career counseling to candidates whose credentials just happen to catch her eye.

This past May, Voghel added a new dimension to her expanding business division when she created 1to1Jobs.com, an on-line extension of 1to1 Executive Search. 1to1 Jobs.com services marketers at all levels of salary and experience, providing active job seekers access to CRM employment listings on the Peppers and Rogers Group web site. Using a targeted approach tailored to the applicant’s preferences and a pool of specialized CRM resumes, 1to1Jobs.com provides a search and application program that benefits employers and recruiters as well as the individual candidates.

Voghel joined Peppers and Rogers Group in 1995 when the fledgling company was only 12 people strong. She spearheaded the firm’s efforts to establish its reputation in the lecture circuit, selling millions of dollars worth of speaking engagements for Don Peppers, Martha Rogers and Bob Dorf, whose thought leadership and 1to1 strategic marketing skills have changed the way companies do business.

Voghel began her career in 1988 as an industry analyst for Life Insurance and Marketing Research Association, before strategically moving into sales at United Financial Funding. At UFF, she became a Senior Loan Officer placing commercial and residential mortgages for the lender, and ultimately selling the mortgages to investors on the secondary market. Prior to joining Peppers and Rogers Group, Voghel was a commercial sales manager with the Wine Enthusiast, a $33 million privately held firm.
