Peppers and Rogers Group Appoints New Chief Executive Officer to Lead Next Phase of Global ExpansionMcKinsey Partner Named to Succeed Founding CEOSeptember 6, 2000. Stamford, CT. Peppers and Rogers Group, the management consulting firm that helps clients create 1to1® relationships with their customers, has announced the appointment of Steve Skinner as their new CEO and President.Prior to his appointment, Skinner was a partner in McKinsey & Company’s Atlanta office, where he was a leader in the firm’s Transportation Practice and in their Business Accelerator, a program that helps support the growth of new business ventures. Skinner joined Peppers and Rogers Group on August 28, following a year-long search. This “changing of the guard” was precipitated by the firm’s co-founder, CEO and President, Bob Dorf, who last year announced his plan to leave the firm. Working closely with the firm’s Board during the recruitment process, Dorf expressed his desire to “ski more, play more, and have time for family and charities” while focusing his entrepreneurial skills on the expansion of Peppers and Rogers Group’s new, early stage private equity venture capital firm, 1to1Venture Partners, based here. A native of St. Louis, Missouri, and long time resident of Fort Myers, Florida, Skinner earned his Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1985. He worked as a sales engineer and sales manager for Johnson Controls before attending Harvard Business School, earning an MBA in 1991, prior to joining McKinsey & Company. During his tenure with McKinsey, Skinner focused on the transportation industry, working primarily with major airlines and third-party logistics companies, later shifting his practice to Internet and new venture initiatives.
