Oracle to Deliver the Fact-Based E-Business With Online Business Intelligence

Oracle9i(TM) Marks the Transition to 'Management by Fact'

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif, Nov. 21  -- ( http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?485252 ) Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL - news), the largest provider of software for e-business, today announced new business intelligence functionality built into its flagship products that will forever simplify and speed the way enterprises use software to help make decisions. With Oracle9i(TM) and Oracle® E-Business Suite, Oracle introduces a new, centralized approach to gathering information and disseminating valuable business analysis, personalized to each decision maker. This will provide a complete and simple approach to business intelligence, which gives e-businesses the ability to manage people and business processes, using facts delivered real-time.

Oracle has built business intelligence functionality into its e-business software so that companies can make personalized information available to anyone -- employees, partners and customers -- delivered through any Internet-enabled device. Oracle9i and the E-Business Suite, will help companies eliminate the purchasing, integrating and maintaining of many varied and complex pieces of business intelligence software in an effort to derive relevant information for managers and decision makers. Such business intelligence systems are often too slow to provide timely information and produce faulty, fragmented analysis derived from multiple information sources. Furthermore, they only support a small number of specialized, professional users.

With the addition of business intelligence functionality -- including online analytic processing (OLAP), extraction, transformation and load (ETL) and personalization technology -- into Oracle9i Database, e-businesses will no longer have to use specialized servers to get the data they need to make daily business decisions. Instead, business intelligence functionality will be delivered through the industry's most reliable, scalable database engine and deployed to anyone using any Internet-enabled device with Oracle9i Application Server.

``Business Intelligence is no longer separate from the mainstream operations of an enterprise. Everyone within an e-business should be using business intelligence to make decisions every day,'' said Jeremy Burton, Oracle senior vice president of product and services marketing. ``With the integration of key technology into Oracle9i and the complete Oracle E-Business Suite, Oracle is driving the evolution of business intelligence to enable companies to base their decisions on facts available in real time.''
