TUI Northern Europe and Britannia Airlines Fly Ahead of the Competition With Oracle(R) E-Business Suite and Shared Service Center ImplementationTUI UK and Associated Businesses Within TUI NE Streamline Financial Processes With Oracle Financials and Oracle Purchasing to Get in Shape for the FutureREDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ( http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?1515138 ) Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL - News), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that TUI NE, which includes holiday company Thomson and travel agents Lunn Poly in the UK, has invested in the Oracle® Financials and Oracle Purchasing applications of the Oracle E-Business Suite. This follows a previous successful implementation of Oracle Financials within the Fritidsresor Group business in Scandinavia that now forms part of the TUI Northern Europe business. In the UK this new, integrated financial system will be implemented within a shared service center in Warwickshire, to be called the TUI Finance Center, and will replace disparate back-office systems run at a number of different locations. This will enable the company to lower the transaction costs and the time it takes to close the company's quarterly accounts.TUI UK is part of TUI Northern Europe, which is owned by the German TUI AG group. It has its own package holiday operation, distribution channel, and strong links to Britannia Airlines plus 40 different brands with a myriad of different financial systems, which meant that the business was inefficient and difficult to manage. The Oracle E- Business Suite will provide an integrated set of applications that will allow users to update and view information in real time across the business. As well as the consolidation of their financial applications, the TUI Finance Center will now be able to centrally manage their procurement process and use self-service applications for their Web requisitioning across the business. Steve Newman, the newly appointed TUI Finance Center Director commented, "The multiple financial systems had become unmanageable. Companies in our sector have to have the ability to react very quickly to changing market conditions and senior management needs to have company wide information as and when they need it, not two weeks later. We needed a solution that would support further business integration and provide us with the flexibility to adapt as we continue to grow, but was also robust enough to deal with the vast amount of information stored on the current systems. Oracle was the only supplier who could provide truly integrated applications, vital to the goal of a single source of information. Furthermore, the new TUI Finance Center will become a focus for excellence within the business as it utilizes a world-class system, best practice processes and the skill and expertise of many of our existing TUI UK finance staff." Oracle was selected over an incumbent supplier because of the tight integration between Oracle E-Business Suite Applications. TUI didn't want the extra expenditure of having to integrate disparate software. Mike Lunt, travel and transport business development manager, Oracle UK, said, "This deal really exemplifies the benefits of moving from multiple systems to one core central financial function. Oracle supports these drives towards efficiency and the free flow of information round the enterprise. The TUI has given itself a competitive advantage by implementing systems that give key decision makers in the organization access to the tools they need to get real-time information about their business, something that is becoming increasingly critical as companies are forced to get 'more from less' in today's economic climate."
