Using Oracle(R) E-Business Suite Online, John I. Haas Reduces Cost of Running Oracle Applications by 20%Largest Domestic Hops Producer Live on Oracle E-Business Suite As an Online ServiceREDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Oct. 24 / -- ( http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?1055992 ) Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL - news), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that John I. Haas, Inc., the largest domestic grower of hops and the world's largest producer of hop products, has reduced the cost of running Oracle applications by 20% using Oracle® E-Business Suite Online, delivered as an online service. For its U.S. operations, Haas replaced disparate legacy systems with Oracle's E-Business Suite Online to centralize real-time data and standardize business processes across its six regional locations. The integrated e-business applications run off of a single database, enabling Haas to operate more efficiently and strategically in the highly time-sensitive and market-driven agricultural sector.Delivered as an online service by Oracle, Haas' Oracle E-Business Suite applications are served to its users from one instance. ``By maintaining the applications for us, Oracle allows us to focus all our time and effort on what we do best-running our business,'' said Kyle Lambert, vice president of Information Solutions for John. I. Haas. ``Since we signed on with E-Business Suite Online program, Oracle has saved us 80% of the time we would have spent maintaining the systems and at least 80% of the frustration.'' ``Because hops is a niche agricultural commodity with limited quantities being consumed, it's critical we calibrate our production precisely to cover demand but not overproduce and thus drive down prices,'' explained Alexander Barth, executive vice president of Supply Chain Management for John I. Haas. ``Since the industry operates both on a futures and a spot market, our success depends on the availability of timely and accurate supply and demand information. The Oracle solution's tight integration gives us immediate, real-time access to our orders, sales status and inventory and production levels and helps us plan to hit that very specific production target exactly.'' The functionality of the Oracle E-Business Suite has improved the Haas process workflow by adding the ability to run a variety of consolidated sales and finance reports, and add attachments to order transactions. Beyond these capabilities, Haas has implemented Oracle Financial Analyzer, an application that improves and facilitates financial reporting, analysis, budgeting and planning. Haas also uses the Oracle system to improve auto clearing, credit card reconciliation and expense processing capabilities. To further streamline their business processes, Haas is implementing Oracle iProcurement, a component of the complete Internet-based E-Business Suite that will help employees process requisitions, purchase orders and receipts quickly and efficiently, and the iExpense module, which allows expenses reports to entered through a Web browser. By choosing Oracle E-Business Suite Online, Haas is able to depend on reliable, 24/7 services and focus its own information technology (IT) resources on core business competencies. Using the over-the-wire E-Consulting approach to implementing, Oracle Consulting completed Haas' migration to the Oracle E-Business Suite in only six months. Conducting the migration entirely over the Internet proved to be both time-saving and cost-effective for Haas. ``The migration was greatly enhanced by doing it online'' added Lambert. ``We used E-Consulting and the E-Business Studios during the implementation and then went live with Oracle Online Services. I am ecstatic with how smoothly it went. If we had done it in-house, it would have cost twice as much and taken twice as long.'' Haas has been an Oracle database and applications customer since late 1996. The company is currently live across all U.S. domestic locations. Given the lower maintenance and administration costs offered through Oracle's Internet-based solution, Haas hopes to expand the offerings to international offices in the near future. Looking forward, Haas expects to give its board of directors access to financial reports, profit and loss statements and projections by mid-November. The company also plans to offer affiliates online access to orders they have placed and inventories they have in storage at Haas sites. Ultimately, the Oracle E-Business Suite will allow Haas to open their supply chain and work directly with vendors by offering better visibility into safety stocks and forecasts.
