Oracle9i Boosts Customer Satisfaction and Sales Force Productivity For Honeywell Automation and Control Solutions

Arms Sales Force with Accurate, Actionable Customer Information Migrates to Oracle9i Application Server and Oracle(R) Database From Microsoft SQL Server


REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ( http://www.oracle.com/tellmemore/?1473166 ) Oracle Corporation (Nasdaq: ORCL - News), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced that Honeywell (NYSE: HON - News) Automation and Control Solutions' Environmental Controls business, which provides products and services millions of households and thousands of commercial buildings in the United States, is using an Oracle9i business intelligence solution to equip its sales force with accurate, rapid and easy access to customer information. Using the business intelligence and portal features of Oracle9i Application Server and the Oracle® database, Honeywell ACS's Environmental Controls 200-person sales force accesses customer and sales reports up to 2,000 times per week.

In January 2002, Honeywell ACS fully implemented Oracle9i Application Server and chose to migrate from Microsoft SQL Server to the Oracle database. In four months, the system was live, providing the sales force with accurate, customer information on a daily basis. Honeywell has also experienced a boost in productivity through the creation of an enterprise portal built using the portal technology in Oracle9i Application Server.

Central to Honeywell's success is its use of Oracle Warehouse Builder and Oracle Discoverer in Oracle9i Application Server. Oracle Warehouse Builder and Oracle Discoverer, a business intelligence tool, are used by Honeywell ACS to derive timely and accurate business intelligence, including revenue recognition and projections, backlogs and orders. By designing and deploying an Oracle data warehouse, Honeywell ACS can use Oracle Warehouse Builder to map out and extract business critical information directly from the company's operational databases daily. Oracle9i Discoverer augments this process by providing Honeywell ACS with accurate reporting and analysis.

The Oracle database has enabled Honeywell ACS to easily access the information required for sales reports and helped ensure that the information matched what was stored in the data warehouse.

Improved Communications

Since Honeywell ACS implemented Oracle9i technology products, the company has improved external and internal communications with customers and its national sales force. The company's sales force now easily logs on to Honeywell's intranet to find detailed sales reports, as well as other relevant sales information. The Oracle9i Application Server wizard-driven page design allows sales representatives to post and share key success stories. Embedded news portlets available through Oracle9i Application Server help sales managers communicate directly with representatives in the field.
