Oracle(R) Exchange Selected to Power Thailand Horizontal MarketplaceREDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Oct. 18 -- Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL - news), the largest provider of software for e-business, today announced that the Oracle® Exchange has been chosen to power the Thailand Horizontal Exchange, the largest indirect material business-to-business marketplace of its kind in Thailand. The Thailand Horizontal Exchange will be open to all companies in Thailand who want to efficiently and economically procure and sell non-production products and services. Bank of Asia Public Co., Ltd., Berli Jucker Public Co., Ltd., Betagro Agro Group Public Co., Ltd., M-Web (Thailand) Limited, Saha Pathanapibul Public Co., Ltd. and United Communication Industry Public Co., Ltd. (UCOM). have expressed intent to form strategic alliances in the Thailand Horizontal Exchange. Organizations that have shown their clear intent to use this exchange include such significant companies as Grammy Entertainment Public Co., Ltd., KR Precision Public Co., Ltd., Osotspa Co., Ltd., and Unilever Thai Holdings Limited.The Thailand Horizontal Exchange will be an open and neutral B2B exchange for Thai companies to procure non-production goods and services, such as computer software and hardware, office automation equipment, office supplies, furniture and fixtures, tools and electrical and construction supplies. The newly formed exchange will allow buyers to achieve significant procurement savings and greater efficiencies throughout the procure-to-pay lifecycle. Sellers will benefit by gaining access to broader markets and building stronger customer relationships. The Thailand Horizontal Exchange will be built on the proven Oracle Exchange platform which already powers large multi-billion dollar exchanges. PricewaterhouseCoopers will provide management consultancy support for the formation of the exchange. Unifize is an exchange ``accelerator,'' which provides a range of services to new exchanges, including business planning, benefit analysis for equity members, supplier activation, web design and landing pads, sales and marketing kits, eContent and eLearning services. To further enhance the volume of transactions, the Thailand Horizontal Exchange will be connected to an affiliated Asia-Pacific-wide value network of horizontal exchanges. To date, Oracle Exchange has been selected to create several global industry specific exchanges such as GlobalNetXchange, Aeroxchange and GlobalTransportXchange.
