Oracle Announces Community-Based Developer Support ServicesOTN Service Network Gives Developers Real-time Access to Hundreds of Independent Oracle Certified Professionals Around the GlobeJAVAONE, SAN FRANCISCO, March 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In its continuing effort to make developers successful with unprecedented online resources, Oracle Corp. (Nasdaq: ORCL), the world's largest enterprise software company, today announced Oracle(R) Technology Network (OTN) Service Network, an innovative new online developer service now available from OTN and powered by ePeople. OTN Service Network is a web-based program that allows Oracle developers to tap qualified experts for answers on Oracle software products, including Oracle9i Database, Oracle9i Application Server and Oracle9i JDeveloper, and related technologies such as J2EE, XML, Web services and database programming and design. Previously, OTN members looking to optimize and enhance their applications built with Oracle software used bulletin boards and fellow developers as sources for technical solutions. With this new service, developers can tap into the collective knowledge of more than 600 independent technology experts who have Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) status. OCPs have real-world experience building, debugging, and deploying enterprise-quality applications, and therefore have the expertise to help OTN members answer how-to questions, such as how to improve application design, code quality and performance. Oracle has teamed up with ePeople, a provider of Internet-based, collaborative support solutions, to deliver OTN Service Network. "OTN Service Network signals a new era in how enterprise software companies can more effectively provide new services by using an extended service network," said Anthony Lye, CEO of ePeople. "ePeople's collaborative, Web-based support solution provides the infrastructure required to create a highly-qualified and accountable virtual support organization designed to support developers, customers and partners more efficiently." With ePeople's collaborative infrastructure, the developer seeking support and the OCP work together inside shared online workspaces using a series of support tools and technologies to resolve an issue. Developers can select from a variety of communication methods and support tools to meet their service needs, including real-time chat, file attachments and desktop sharing for effective issue resolution. Quality is maintained both with the validation of the Oracle Certified Professional accreditation and through an innovative real-time reputation system that enables developers to rate the service, allowing Oracle to closely monitor and continually improve performance and developer satisfaction. "We are continually looking for ways to offer new and innovative services to our more than two million developer community members," said Rene Bonvanie, vice president of Oracle9i Application Server and OTN Marketing at Oracle. "With OTN Service Network, we are making it possible for developers to access the collective brain power and experience of hundreds of Oracle experts throughout the world, at any time of the day or night."
