NetManage Transforms Bancomer's Traditional Banking Applications Into Successful Online Banking System in Record TimeNetManage RUMBAŽ Solutions Deliver Rapid Deployment of Bancomer.com Banking and Trading Transactions Providing Over 100,000 Users With Real-Time Access to an Array of Financial Products and ServicesCUPERTINO, Calif.--Nov. 28, 2000-- NetManage (Nasdaq:NETM - news), a leading supplier of e-business access and application integration solutions, today reported that Grupo Bancomer BBVA, Mexico's leading financial services institution, is using NetManage's RUMBA Management Server and RUMBA OBJECTX Development Kit (ODK) to power the CLUB banking transactions of Bancomer.com, the bank's Internet portal. The new business and personal Internet Banking Portal was in full operation in less than six months with the ability to support hundreds of thousands of users. Over 100,000 subscribers have signed up with Bancomer.com CLUB banking services since the March 2000 launch, with approximately 14,000 additional users signing up per month. The project joined NetManage's deep knowledge of systems integration and terminal emulation with Bancomers expertise in the banking industry to deliver a cost-effective, secure e-business solution capable of handling robust transactions and scaleable to large numbers of users. Intuitive, easy-to-use and easily accessible through the Internet, the Web-based banking system enables business and personal banking customers to automate their transactions, such as transfers, third-party payments, and private banking. ``Banking and financial institutions face immense challenges to become and remain competitive. Bancomer was looking for a solution that would increase the speed and capacity of its existing e-business application so that its products and financial expertise could be effectively delivered to an ever demanding web-based audience,'' explained Lic Ricardo Montes de Oca Madrigal, subdirector cash management for Bancomer Bank. ``The combination of NetManage's reliable technology and consulting expertise resulted in a powerful, comprehensive solution that enabled us to rapidly extend our business processes to the web. It helped us retain our online leadership position by getting Bancomer.com to the market quickly.'' NetManage's RUMBA Management Server and RUMBA ODK e-business solution was chosen for its ability to deliver mainframe information to the Internet quickly and securely with applications that are flexible, cost-effective, and based on worldwide standards such as Java and HTML. Development and roll-out were accelerated because RUMBA Management Server and RUMBA ODK enabled Bancomer to convert existing applications and legacy databases to the Internet without reengineering host systems and business processes. ``Online customers require a 100% uptime service. Anything less can result into major financial loss for the customer and the bank,'' said Ing. Renier Diaz Arciniega, subdirector of systems for Bancomer. ``RUMBA Management Server and RUMBA ODK addressed our immediate development issues and provided assurance that Bancomer.com will have the flexibility to continually evolve and support robust and rich information channels that will drive end user acceptance.'' ``Integrating front and back-end office systems to extend them to the Web quickly and effectively can be a formidable challenge for financial institutions,'' said Zvi Alon, president and CEO of NetManage. ``The most expensive aspect is not bringing the products and services to the Internet, but reengineering internal host systems and manual processes. NetManage's technology is able to convert existing applications and legacy databases to the Internet with minimal transformation and investment, so customers won't be affected. NetManage's mission is to help companies like Bancomer bridge the gap to the Internet economy by providing a wider range of options and tools that are adaptable and faster to implement.''
