NativeMinds Introduces Solaris Version of NeuroServer Virtual Representative SoftwareSupport for Unix platform expands enterprise capabilities of NativeMinds' Web self-service software for fielding large volumes of customer questionsSan Francisco, Oct. 15, 2001 – NativeMinds, Inc., a leading provider of online natural language customer self-service software, today announced the availability of its flagship product, NeuroServer®, for Sun Microsystems’s Solaris™ platform. Responding to increasing demand for Unix-based Web self-service solutions, NativeMinds now makes it possible to develop new virtual reps for the Solaris platform and migrate existing virtual service reps to Solaris environments. The support for Solaris expands the enterprise capabilities of NeuroServer, used by Fortune 1000 companies to resolve large volumes of customer inquiries on corporate Web sites and intranets via automatic natural language response.Solaris is the preferred platform for many of the high-powered servers running the Internet. As many companies continue to build their Internet infrastructure, they have come to rely on Solaris as the operating system of choice for critical business applications such as e-commerce and online customer service. Virtual representatives, called vReps™, are automated online personalities that emulate the best in human customer service. vReps provide personalized and immediate answers to customer questions via two-way natural language dialog. In addition to native installations of vReps on Solaris servers, NeuroServer 3.1 for Solaris makes migration from Windows to Solaris simple. NativeMinds vReps built on Solaris have all the features of Windows-based vReps, including the ability to run multiple vReps on one server, enabling companies to keep hardware and support costs at a minimum. NativeMinds’ interface modules -- HTTP, HTML and ODBC -- work with the Solaris platform and enable connectivity to Oracle databases, MS SQL Server, Sybase ASE and Informix. According to IDC Research, Sun was number one in the UNIX server market with 39 percent marketshare versus other platforms, and has been number one in workstation shipments for 13 years. The Solaris platform already owns 59 percent of the high-end market and is becoming increasingly prevalent in other businesses and demonstrates a growing enterprise demand for UNIX support. "Solaris compatibility has become an important decision-making factor for companies developing Web self-service initiatives, where system performance and reliability can make or break the customer relationship," said Walter Tackett, CEO of NativeMinds. "Our support for Solaris reflects the demand among our Fortune 1000 customers for industrial-strength online customer service and support capabilities."
