MOTIVE ENTERS THE ASIA-PACIFIC MARKET WITH DEPLOYMENT ON FUJITSU PCS IN JAPANFujitsu Limited Launches Motive's Intelligent Service SolutionAustin, Texas, October 29, 2001 - Motive Communications, Inc. (www.motive.com), the leading provider of intelligent service software, announced today that Fujitsu Limited (TSE: 6702) is the first company to deploy Motive's solution in Japan. This strategic relationship marks Motive's entry into the Asia-Pacific region through one of the largest PC manufacturers in the Japanese marketplace. Fujitsu Limited, one of the premiere technology companies in the world, is deploying Motive's ServiceNet Platform on millions of PC products in Japan over the next year. Motive's industry-leading, built-in service solution will allow Fujitsu Limited to provide external service and support to its consumer customers on Fujitsu-branded PCs. Motive has already successfully deployed its software on computers made by Fujitsu PC Corporation, the company's North American subsidiary. "At Fujitsu, we've always set ourselves apart in the computing industry by offering our customers the best service, and by utilizing Motive's intelligent software, we are taking service to the next level," said Kenji Hirai, manager of product planning & development, personal systems business group at Fujitsu Limited. "Motive is the clear leader in the automated service market, and we look forward to working together to provide our customers a smoother, more enjoyable computing experience." The selection of Motive's ServiceNet Platform comes as Fujitsu rolls out products enabled with Microsoft XP. As new operating systems often breed new questions and problems from end users, customers may experience an increased need for service. Motive's software gathers detailed context such as who the users are, what the users are doing and details about the machines and then uses the data to deliver highly targeted self-service solutions. This enables the users to solve many problems on their own, without having to wait for assistance from service staff. When self-help is not applicable, Motive's software electronically escalates the problem to a Fujitsu service representative. The service analyst receives the contextual information about the user and the machine to help solve problems and answer questions more efficiently without having to troubleshoot from scratch or waste time with a series of difficult and repetitive questions. Consumers receive high-quality, personalized service experiences that give them quick solutions to questions and problems through a single entry point. "Fujitsu Limited has established itself as one of the top technology companies in the world by not only offering some of the leading computer products, but also backing them up with strong customer service," said Mike Maples, Motive's vice president of product development. "As the first PC manufacturer to ship a Microsoft XP-based solution supported by Motive in the Japanese market, Fujitsu gains a strategic advantage by further differentiating itself in this highly competitive marketplace."
