MAGIC SOLUTIONS PARTNER SELECTED TO PRESENT NEW BUSINESS MODEL AT ASP CONFERENCE

Hartford Computer Group Highlights Help Desk as a Critical Element in Transitioning to an Application Service Provider

SANTA CLARA, Calif., August 23, 2000 - Magic Solutions, a Network Associates Inc. (Nasdaq: NETA) business, today announced that Ken Werner of Hartford Computer Group, one of the nation’s premiere providers of computer products and services, has been selected to speak at the ASP Channel conference on August 29, 2000 in San Francisco, California. At the conference, Ken Werner, senior vice president of financial services of Hartford Computer Group, will discuss how value-added resellers (VARs) should adjust their business model to compete with the growing popularity of application service providers (ASPs).

Hartford recently modified their "Full Cycle Solution®,” designed to help businesses leverage, manage, and control the life cycle of their technology assets while reducing total cost of ownership. Included in the solution is an ASP function which addresses corporations’ needs for a top-of-the-line help desk solution.

“Four years ago, Hartford acknowledged that in order to stay competitive, it was necessary to grow beyond hardware. Today, Hartford is one of the largest full-services firms in the Midwest with offerings in hardware, software, support and integration,” said Werner. “I am looking forward to sharing our ideas on how to create a successful business model within the e-business industry. Our Full-Cycle Solution is an example of how we have been able to address all the needs of our customers.”

Hartford Computer Group has provided customized IT solutions since 1978. As both a customer and provider of the Magic Total Service Desk product, Hartford Computer Group will reference the ability to easily customize the Magic Service Desk solution to be used in a variety of ways, ideal for their transition to the ASP model. The Magic Total Service Desk suite, one of the industry's first 100 percent Web-based service desks, combines an enterprise-level support management solution integrated with desktop, network and event management tools to provide a service desk solution that automates the entire e-business support management process.

Working as a strategic partner with each of its clients, Hartford offers thousands of IT products from over 1,100 manufacturers, and has established strategic alliances with Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, NEC, and Toshiba. A cornerstone of the company’s success is its trademarked “Full Cycle Solution®,” an integrated approach to product life-cycle management that includes consulting, product procurement, technology management services, leasing programs, and trade-in and disposal of older equipment.
