Peregrine Systems Acquires KnowlixAdvanced Knowledge Management Added to Infrastructure Management SuiteSAN DIEGO, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Peregrine SystemsŪ, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRGN - news) today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Knowlix Corporation, a leading provider of complete end-to-end knowledge management solutions for help desk and customer support centers. The iKnow(TM) family of software is currently integrated with Peregrine Systems ServiceCenter(TM) and will be integrated into all other applications in Peregrine Systems Infrastructure Management suite including: AssetCenter(TM), FacilityCenter(TM), FleetAnywhere(TM) and e.fleet(TM).``Knowledge management is key to an organization's ability to effectively manage its infrastructure,'' said Steve Gardner, Peregrine Systems president and CEO. ``The acquisition of Knowlix will provide our customers the ability to integrate knowledge databases directly into their workflow so that they can find answers to specific questions about all aspects of their infrastructure, whether it is IT, fleet or facility and real estate related.'' The Knowlix product line includes iKnow software for searching and capturing support knowledge, iKnowAuthor for editing and refining new support knowledge, iKnowWeb for providing users with self-help options over the Web and iKnowBuilder for converting legacy data from a variety of file formats into a usable knowledge base. The software allows users to apply a single search to multiple knowledge bases. As new problems are solved, the knowledge is captured immediately and submitted to the knowledge base where it can be shared. With iKnow Metrics, a document selected as the right answer will rank higher in relevance the next time the knowledge base is searched.
