Leading law firm implements Infra to support move to web-based service management

Kennedys, the leading London-based law firm specializing in insurance-driven commercial litigation, has implemented the Infra web-based service management software to support service desk and change management processes across its IT, Library, and Record Management departments.

The Infra system (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies) has enabled Kennedys to move seamlessly from a client-server IT environment to a web-based model, while protecting their existing IT investment.

Initially implemented to support the IT service desk, “early success in the pilot project meant that the Partners were happy to sanction further investment in the Infra technology for other areas of the business," said Hugo Lawrence, Head of IT Operations at Kennedys.

Kennedys now plans to extend the system to both the Facilities and Marketing departments.

The firm selected Infra after reviewing 26 software suppliers in total. “It came down to Infra for two reasons,” said Lawrence. “First, it was a web-based solution, which meant that we didn’t have to provide client software for individual machines, yet our users could immediately and seamlessly access the system.

“Infra also had a very good Change Management component, ideal for streamlining our processes with other departments.”

Infra Change is initially being used to manage activities such as office moves or new starters and leavers, which removes duplication of effort and provides a reportable history of changes for planning and accounting.

Kennedys is additionally using Infra’s Mail Message Access (MMA) functionality, which enables certain key personnel to receive an email notification when a change approval or response is needed, alleviating the need for specialists and developers to remain constantly logged on to the system.

“The Mail Message Access enables our teams to work much more efficiently and productively – with an email URL link, key personnel are directed straight to the relevant document or folder, and need only get involved in projects when their expertise is required,” says Lawrence.

“Using Infra software makes everything more manageable, and enables us to be more productive,” said Lawrence.
