Steve McLelland to Take On New Role as iCommunicate CTOChild prodigy celebrating 25th birthday, ten years as technology innovatorAlexandria, VA, Oct. 12, 2000: iCommunicate has named Steve McLelland as Chief Technology Officer. McLelland, who just celebrated his 25th birthday, is also celebrating ten years as part of the innovative team behind the iCommunicate technology. As CTO, McLelland will oversee product development and technological enhancements for iCommunicate. At the age of 15, McLelland decided to leave school and co-found a technology company called The Alpha Group, Inc., in Baltimore, Maryland. Since its inception, Alpha has helped Newsweek, the National Security Agency, DuPont and the US Air Force in designing and coding complex web-based applications. Seeking a new challenge, in 1999 McLelland once again participated in the creation of a new company--iCommunicate. Instead of delivering applications requiring hardware, software and technical expertise, his latest venture would deliver a customer service application in minutes at a fraction of the cost of traditional software offerings. “I did some research for a client looking for an online customer service,” said McLelland. “None of the solutions seemed very smart--and they all cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. Nonsense. The ASP model proved the perfect development environment for iCommunicate.” In 2000, iCommunicate was officially founded. iCommunicate CEO Louis Ravenet, who also co-founded the Alpha Group, has been partners with Steve for over a decade. Said Ravenet, “Steve has been the driving force behind iCommunicate since its inception. He looks at the world in a utopian fashion: he envisions solutions, not barriers. As iCommunicate continues to evolve, we are grateful to have one of the most brilliant young minds in the industry today at the helm of our technology team.” So what does a 25-year-old look forward to doing at the ripe age of 30 and beyond? “I have no idea. Maybe designing cinema,” McLelland said, laughing. On a more serious note, he says technology is changing so rapidly that every couple of years there are new project and technologies and the nature of the job changes completely. Facing unknowns, uncertainties and unsolved technological problems is exactly where McLelland wants to be.
