iCommunicate adopts SOAP

Plans to Make Back-End Business Objects Fully SOAP Compliant

Alexandria, VA, Sept. 26, 2000: iCommunicate™ announces its adoption of Microsoft Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), a new standard for interoperability among Internet services, for iCommunicate.NET™, its customer service application. This decision strengthens iCommunicate’s recently announced alignment with the Microsoft .NET initiative, the focus of which is to deliver instant access to information regardless of what application or service is generating or storing it.

SOAP is an XML/HTTP-based protocol for information exchange and accessing services, objects and servers from any platform on the web. SOAP eliminates the walls separating distributed computing platforms.

According to technology analysts Gartner Group Inc., SOAP provides the key technology for transport in the next-generation Internet because the protocol’s loosely coupled, simple and firewall-transparent nature makes it a natural for e-services. Every day that Web-based businesses fail to support SOAP or offer an alternative to it, concludes Gartner, they lose potential leadership in e-services.

"SOAP gives our customers the ability to rapidly deploy customized user interfaces and integrated solutions using a standard mechanism for interoperability,” said Steve McLelland, Chief Technology Officer of iCommunicate.

iCommunicate.NET has the ability to integrate in minutes with a client’s existing website, while eliminating the need for new hardware or software, because the foundation of iCommunicate technology, Microsoft’s Windows DNA 2000, supports SOAP.

iCommunicate.NET’s back-end business objects are fully SOAP compliant, making it possible for clients to create totally personalized customer sites.
