HP Announces Global Systems Integration and Cooperative Support Agreements with Citrix

Customers Worldwide to Benefit from Flexible, Enterprise IT Solutions

ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 5, 2002--HP (NYSE:HPQ - News) today announced it intends to continue providing customers with comprehensive consulting services using products of Citrix Systems, Inc., a global leader in virtual workplace software and services. Under the worldwide systems integration and cooperative support agreements with Citrix, HP plans to provide services for enterprise server-based computing solutions.

In addition, HP intends to enhance its ability to resell Citrix® solutions on a global basis. HP also has joined the Citrix Global 2000 program, which provides enterprise customers with flexible licensing and pricing terms, improved account management and simple transactions.

"Through our long-standing alliance with Citrix, we are able to further deliver on our adaptive infrastructure strategy and full lifecycle of services' offerings," said Rick Fricchione, vice president of Enterprise Microsoft Services, HP Services. "This enhanced relationship, combined with HP's global reach and product flexibility, provides our enterprise customers with the opportunity to realize a stronger return on their IT investments through a more flexible workplace infrastructure and environment."

Enterprise customers around the world, like the New York State Department of Civil Service and ABN AMRO North America, have chosen HP to help design, build, integrate and manage adaptive IT infrastructures that lead to greater business agility, enabling companies to react to changes more rapidly.

"We use Citrix solutions with HP ProLiant servers to tie together our enormous human resources network and accomplish more tasks with fewer resources," said Richard Barre, division director of Information and Resource Management, New York State Department of Civil Service. "With the combination of Citrix and HP technologies and services, our administrators in charge of health benefits and personnel issues, working in locations throughout the state, can conduct transactions on our central system in Albany. As a result, our IT staff doesn't have to provide application updates to thousands of users or expend resources supporting the many different platforms running on users' desktops."

"We needed a solution that would allow us to cost-effectively manage and deploy applications for up to 7,000 users," said Ahmed Khan, assistant vice president, ABN AMRO North America. "After a successful proof-of-concept and pilot, we found that the combination of Citrix and HP technology and services best met our cost- savings model. By working with HP for procurement and asset management, we have a single responsive supplier for our project that enables the lowest total cost of ownership. We've seen the initial return on investment first-hand and expect it to only increase during our two-year roll out."

As part of the worldwide systems integration agreement, HP intends to continue reselling the Citrix MetaFrame® family of application serving software and the Nfuse® family of access portal software, providing global software licensing capabilities to enterprise customers around the world. In addition, HP plans to continue making available Citrix solutions across complete lines of industry-standard HP ProLiant servers, including: HP ProLiant BL servers, a comprehensive line of ultra-dense server blades optimized for rapid deployment and automated provisioning, and HP ProLiant DL servers, which offer added flexibility and manageability for multi-server deployments.

Citrix uses HP ProLiant servers as a reference platform for the design, testing and development of best practices documentation for Microsoft® Windows® 2000 deployments. HP intends to expand its significant base of CitrixCertified(TM) professionals to achieve the highest level of Citrix product knowledge and competency.

In addition, HP ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack automates the installation, configuration and deployment of high volumes of servers to help customers quickly and easily adapt to changing business needs. By using this technology with a Citrix solution, server configuration time is reduced, making it possible to rapidly scale server deployments for enterprise-level implementations.

"Citrix and HP have worked together for many years, and we've always been strongly committed to providing our joint customers with superior technical service. These agreements take our relationship to a new level, offering support on a global scale," said Roger Rose, vice president of field operations, worldwide sales and services, Citrix.
