Tata Consultancy Services Announced As Premier Sponsor of Help Desk Institute's "Support Outsourcing Strategies Summit: A Tour Of India"

Colorado Springs, December 18, 2002 - Help Desk Institute (HDI), the world's largest association for help desk and support professionals, announced today that Support Outsourcing Strategies Summit: A Tour of India will be held April 26 - May 3, 2003. HDI is producing the event in partnership with Offshore Development Group (ODG). Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a pioneer and market leader in providing offshore information technology (IT) development, maintenance, support, and business process outsourcing (BPO) services to Fortune 500 companies, will participate in the event as a premier sponsor.

A select group of business executives, primarily from the United States, will travel to India for a week of presentations and tours of several sponsors' outsourcing centers, including at TCS center. While on the tour, executive attendees will receive specialized education on outsourcing to the India region and personalized consulting expertise from HDI's founder and CEO, Ron Muns, and ODG's founder and CEO, Paul Schmidt. As a premier sponsor of the first Support Outsourcing Strategies Summit, TCS will have the opportunity to showcase its Intelenet facility in Mahape, New Mumbai, India, as well as the company's products, services, and expertise to an exclusive group of foremost IT executives responsible for assessing and managing outsourcing services for their organizations.

Mr. Arup Gupta, TCS president for North America said, "We're very pleased to be participating as a premier sponsor for HDI's Tour of India event. We recognize that this event presents a unique opportunity to provide executives with key information about outsourcing IT and BPO functions to the Indian market. Our participation in this HDI event signifies our longstanding dedication to providing high quality, offshore outsourcing services for IT support and maintenance, as well as BPO opportunities. We're confident that our sponsorship will provide executive attendees with high value information that will be paramount in their decision process to outsource to the Indian region."

"A proven global leader in the outsourcing industry, TCS's participation as a premier sponsor in HDI's Tour of India event truly speaks to the caliber of this event and to the experience that attendees will receive," said Ron Muns.

The Sourcing Interest Group estimates that the worldwide outsourcing market is $72 billion, and is projected to grow to $100 billion by 2005. The Outsourcing Research Council reports that the typical executive, including those doing business domestically or abroad, will soon be spending over one-third of his or her budget on outsourcing. The analyst community is citing outsourcing as an important trend and emerging business tool since it allows organizations to focus on core business competencies and outsource non-core processes, which results in effectiveness and cost efficiencies.
