Great Plains Expands Electronic Business Functionality For Small and Medium Companies

Great Plains Dynamics Solution Enhanced with Added Support of Microsoft SQL Server 7.0

Fargo, ND, October 19, 1999 - Great Plains (Nasdaq: GPSI) announced today that it has expanded the electronic business functionality in Great Plains Dynamics, its business management solution for small and medium businesses, by adding Great Plains e.Order and support of the Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 database. Great Plains e.Order provides an out-of-the-box storefront, eliminating the investment associated with developing and maintaining a custom e-commerce web site. The storefront solution allows a quick path to electronic commerce by providing a fully integrated pre-built storefront with embedded Microsoft Site Server Commerce Edition.

With the expanded electronic business functionality, customers can allow their salespeople and established clients to securely enter or check the status of orders via the Internet through Great Plains e.Order, which seamlessly integrates with the back office solutions of Great Plains Dynamics. With Great Plains e.Order, customers can improve efficiency and effectiveness and make better business decisions faster. "Electronic business is simply becoming business as usual," said Darren Laybourn, vice president of research and development at Great Plains. "By expanding the e-business functionality of Great Plains Dynamics, we help small and growing customers broaden their market and compete successfully in a wired world."

The Great Plains e.Order solution joins a number of e-business product offerings, including Great Plains e.View, Great Plains Stores and Great Plains works.com, already available to Great Plains Dynamics customers. Great Plains Dynamics, first released in 1993, is the leading Windows-based business management solution in the Small and Medium Business (SMB) market with more than 24,000 customer sites. Ideal for companies standardizing on Microsoft technologies, Great Plains Dynamics is cost effective, easy to implement and provides a solid foundation for e-business. Great Plains Dynamics offers unparalleled access to decision-driving information, customized reporting and seamless integration with strategic business applications, including Microsoft Office and industry-specific products. By supporting Microsoft SQL Server in Great Plains Dynamics, Great Plains offers small and medium companies the opportunity to extend their businesses and compete more effectively in a digital economy. Great Plains Dynamics is also available on the Pervasive SQL 2000 database.
