DIRECTV BROADBAND, INC. AND GOTOMYPC ANNOUNCE ALLIANCE TO PROVIDE EASY & SECURE HIGH-SPEED REMOTE PC ACCESS

Proven "Killer App" GoToMyPC Stimulates Residential Broadband Adoption

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., December 9, 2002. Expertcity, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based remote-access and customer-support technologies, today announced an alliance with DIRECTV Broadband, Inc., a division of Hughes Electronics Corporation (NYSE:GMH) and a leading nationwide provider of broadband services to the residential market, to promote the award-winning GoToMyPC™ remote-access service. DIRECTV Broadband is working with GoToMyPC to offer its DIRECTV DSL™ subscribers a secure remote PC access service that significantly enhances productivity for home office and remote workers.

"The combination of DIRECTV Broadband and GoToMyPC offer corporate employees the opportunity to take advantage of a true telecommuting environment," said Ned Hayes, President and CEO of DIRECTV Broadband. "GoToMyPC offers our customers a seamless remote connection and does not require any technical knowledge of firewalls, proxy settings or other esoteric technical issues. It's clear that the combined GoToMyPC and DIRECTV DSL offering is a superior solution that meets the sophisticated requirements of today's digital professionals."

After evaluating the remote-access market for the best solution, DIRECTV Broadband selected GoToMyPC based on its ease-of-use and stringent security measures. DIRECTV Broadband is cobranding GoToMyPC to satisfy the growing demand for fast, easy and safe remote PC access to professionals who work after hours, on weekends and while traveling. DIRECTV's broadband customers can purchase and access GoToMyPC directly from the DIRECTV Broadband's customers-only Web site. The site can be viewed at http://directvinternet.com

John Greathouse, Expertcity's CFO and senior vice president of strategic development, expressed excitement regarding this alliance. According to Mr. Greathouse, "DIRECTV is proving again that it has keen insight as to which services provide broadband users with the most utility. Although entertainment has proven to be a significant driver of early broadband adoption, we believe that work productivity tools like GoToMyPC will ultimately drive significantly more consumers to acquire broadband access within the home. DIRECTV shares this vision, and we look forward to working with them to develop a long-term and mutually beneficial relationship."

Although both narrowband and broadband customers can effectively use GoToMyPC, the experience is nearly seamless with a high-speed connection. GoToMyPC offers real-time, hassle-free remote access that is fast and easy to implement and requires no training or support. It is highly secure and uses AES encryption with128-bit keys to protect the data stream, file transfers and other input. Additional security features include dual passwords, end-to-end user authentication, host screen blanking and host keyboard and mouse locking. Used with DIRECTV DSL access, GoToMyPC provides PC access from anywhere in the world, enabling people to virtually work regardless of time zones and location.

Expertcity offers two GoToMyPC products: GoToMyPC Personal provides secure remote access for the individual subscriber and GoToMyPC Corporate enables highly secure remote access for businesses of all sizes. GoToMyPC Corporate features efficient, easy-to-implement-and-use administration tools, including a robust report generator and a corporate authorization management service.

Following its May 2001 introduction, GoToMyPC quickly assumed the leadership position in the remote-access category. It has been repeatedly rated higher than other remote-access offerings by credible industry organizations and it has won numerous awards for excellence, including The International Telework Association & Council's award for Outstanding Innovation in Telework.
