Symantec Integrates Expertcity.com into Norton SystemWorks 2001

SANTA BARBARA, CA - September 5, 2000 - Expertcity.com, the Internet’s leading portal for person-to-person help, advice and training, today announced an agreement with Symantec Corporation, a world leader in Internet security technology, to participate in Symantec Web Partners program.

Under the terms of the agreement, Expertcity.com’s DesktopStreaming™ technology will be available through Symantec’s best-selling utility suite, Norton SystemWorks 2001. Symantec users will be able to access and register for Expertcity.com’s innovative tech-support services directly from the main Norton SystemWorks user interface.

“We are very excited about our participation in Symantec’s popular line of PC problem-solving software,” said John Greathouse, vice president of strategic development and CFO of Expertcity.com. “At Expertcity.com, we understand that the Symantec users have the need for assistance with their PCs beyond the software solutions provided by Norton SystemWorks. We are confident that Expertcity.com will deliver a comprehensive, easy-to-use tech-support solution to suit the needs of users with various levels of expertise.”

Expertcity.com will have a link featured inside Norton SystemWorks that will lead users to a “welcome page” on the Expertcity.com Web site. This page will take Symantec users into a co-branded site that explains Expertcity.com’s services and provides information regarding the company’s newest product offerings.

Norton SystemWorks users may then take advantage of Expertcity.com features, including the ability to discuss questions with experts via live chat or phone or the option to receive person-to-person help through screen sharing with the experts standing by online to help them.

“Expertcity.com’s innovative capabilities in online technical support services makes them an outstanding partner for Symantec in helping us deliver best-of-breed problem-solving solutions to customers,” said Steve Cullen, senior vice president of Symantec’s Consumer Product Division. “Symantec has always leveraged the Internet to deliver better value to consumers. By adding Expertcity.com as a Symantec Web Partner, we will continue to set the bar for problem-solving solutions on the desktop and over the Internet.”

Symantec has designed Web Partners for third parties to link to Norton SystemWorks 2001 Standard and Professional Editions. To better serve the Symantec community, Expertcity.com experts will receive training on Norton SystemWorks from Symantec.

Expertcity.com’s desktop-sharing capability downloads in seconds to a customer’s screen, permitting customers and technical-support staff to interact in real time via chat or telephone and to share mouse and keyboard control.
