TECHUNET SELECTS DESKTOPSTREAMING TO OPTIMIZE SUPPORT FOR NONPROFIT HELP DESKS

Superior Speed, Ease of Use and Cost Savings Are Cited

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., August 13, 2002. Expertcity, Inc., the leading provider of Web-based remote-access and customer-support technologies, today announced that TECHUNET, the premier provider of smarter technology solutions for human service and other community-based organizations, selected DesktopStreamingÔ to significantly optimize support services for its client base across the nation.

“DesktopStreaming enables us to provide superior support services to our clients while dramatically reducing operational costs,” said Reese Kaplan, managing director of TECHUNET. “With DesktopStreaming our call sessions are running 18 percent faster and travel to remote sites has been reduced by 26 percent. DesktopStreaming is a smart tool to use for help desk and customer support.”

Through its patented screen-sharing technology, DesktopStreaming provides TECHUNET with innovative support, communication solutions and high-touch interactions to resolve help desk and customer-support issues. TECHUNET representatives can collaborate in real time with their clients by using instant messaging and desktop sharing for fast and efficient service. Features such as screen sharing, co-browsing and application sharing make it extremely efficient for support representatives to provide solutions.

“One of the unexpected benefits of using DesktopStreaming is that my staff and interns are re-energized,” said Terry Ferguson, head of help desk services at TECHUNET.

“DesktopStreaming offers my team a strong time-management tool, thus boosting productivity and confidence.”

“By selecting DesktopStreaming to enhance the support process, TECHUNET underscores its commitment to provide smart solutions for community service organizations,” said Chuck Massanari, vice president of sales and professional services at Expertcity. “We are thrilled to provide TECHUNET with Web-based screen-sharing technology to significantly decrease session time, improve resolution and help increase productivity.”

DesktopStreaming is delivered on an ASP basis, eliminating the need for TECHUNET to purchase hardware or expend any personnel resources to implement DesktopStreaming in any of TECHUNET’s satellite offices across the nation.

About TECHUNET
TECHUNET's mission is to assist human-service organizations and other not-for-profit groups by providing cost-effective management consulting and technology solutions. TECHUNET strives to address not only the needs of its clients but also the demands of the governing bodies and state agencies to whom they report. As a social-purpose business, TECHUNET uses the fees generated to support its internship program, which moves selected individuals from public assistance to true living-wage careers in technology.

In 1999, HELP USA, Inc., TECHUNET's parent organization, recognizing the critical role of technology in the execution of its mission, perceived a need for affordable technology expertise among other nonprofit agencies. Technology support was identified as a growing field where skills and certification were more valuable than a traditional education. A plan was developed to provide technology consulting and services to the New York not-for-profit community and to train selected individuals for technology careers. In 2000, TECHUNET was introduced as a separate, nonprofit subsidiary of HELP USA. TECHUNET continues to provide technology services to HELP USA and has established consulting and support relationships with other CBOs throughout New York.
