IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Epicor Software Corporation (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies) (Nasdaq: EPIC - News), a leading provider of integrated enterprise software solutions for the midmarket, today announced the editors of Software Magazine have named the Company to the 22nd Annual Software 500, a list of the world's foremost software and services providers. Featured in the September 2004 issue of the publication and online at www.softwaremag.com, this year's Software 500 list places Epicor in the top third of software companies based on 2003 revenues of $155.4.

"It is an honor to once again be recognized as one of world's leading software providers," said George Klaus, chairman, CEO and president of Epicor. "Our five consecutive rankings on Software Magazine's Annual Software 500 are testament to our dedication and innovation in bringing leading edge enterprise solutions to the global midmarket. With our acquisition of Netherlands-based Scala Business Solutions earlier this year, a $70 million enterprise software vendor, we now have annualized revenues of $250 million, and have expanded our midmarket leadership position in the global marketplace."

Epicor continues its commitment to leverage ground-breaking technologies like Web services in developing industry-specific enterprise software solutions for manufacturing, distribution, enterprise service automation, hospitality and more, that enable companies to immediately drive efficiency throughout business operations and build competitive advantage.

"The software industry remains extremely dynamic, with 140 new companies appearing on the 2004 Software 500 list," according to John P. Desmond, editor of Software Magazine and Softwaremag.com. "Overall results were mixed but total revenue for the 500 was up 14% and total employment up 8%. Sectors strong this year include security, business process management and system integration services including outsourcing services."

Software Magazine's annual review of software and services suppliers catalogs the ranking, financial performance and growth, and primary business sector for each company as well as trend information for the Software 500 as a whole. The Software 500 provides a comprehensive look at the enterprise software landscape, encompassing both public and private companies that develop business software and services. Suppliers are ranked on software license and software-related service revenue, rather than total corporate revenue, since many have other lines of business in addition to software and services. Software revenue includes license fees, as well as revenue from product maintenance and support and professional services. Revenue from training, hardware sales and peripherals are excluded. Figures are based on a calendar year so that all firms are measured over the same four quarters.
