Epicor and Cubic Compass Announce Strategic Alliance to Provide The First .NET-based Self-Service Portal Solution to the Midmarket

Passage Portal .NET Application Server to Be Marketed And Sold With Epicor's Clientele CRM.NET Suite

IRVINE, Calif., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Epicor® Software Corporation (Nasdaq: EPIC - News), a leading provider of integrated enterprise, eBusiness and collaborative commerce software solutions for midmarket companies, today announced that it has signed an OEM agreement with Cubic Compass Software to provide easily customized self-service Web- portal solutions to small and mid-size enterprises. Cubic Compass is an innovative vendor of software and services that enable the publishing and sharing of information over the Web.

The strategic alliance introduces the first Microsoft .NET-based suite of contact center solutions by integrating the Cubic Compass Passage Portal .NET Application Server into Epicor's Clientele CRM.NET Suite. As part of the agreement, Epicor will utilize Cubic Compass' Passage Portal technology for extending its Clientele CRM.NET Suite to include a .NET-based portal that enables the customization and deployment of portal content with real-time personalized information that is integrated with sales, marketing and customer support functions. The first product in the Clientele Portal.NET Suite is scheduled to be a customer self-service portal.

"Effective CRM requires that your customers have access to personalized information anytime, anywhere. Companies are increasingly providing 24 hour customer self- service portals that can reduce call center costs and increase customer satisfaction," said William Peterson, Director of Portals and Business Intelligence for Hurwitz Group. "CRM portals must aggregate, present and manage disparate back-end systems and Web services to deliver a complete picture of the customers' relationship. The Epicor and Cubic Compass alliance is expected to provide these features and benefits with the release of Epicor's Clientele Portal.NET Suite."

Epicor's Clientele CRM.NET Suite utilizes the Microsoft .NET Platform to create Web services applications, and this new architecture affords Clientele customers new levels of flexibility and customization, easier application integration and lower total cost of ownership. Extending the suite to include .NET-based portals will provide access to the business processes and data contained in enterprise back-end systems for intranet, extranet or Internet users.

"Epicor has established itself as a leading provider of software solutions that empower mid-size enterprises to manage their business processes and operations more efficiently," said Mike Leach, president and CEO of Cubic Compass Software. "The Clientele CRM.NET Suite built on the Microsoft .NET Platform provides a seamless fit with our Passage Portal framework, and underscores Epicor's forward-looking approach to providing market leading solutions that enhance a business' ability to better serve its customers, partners and employees. We look forward to working with Epicor."

The Clientele Portal.NET Suite is designed to provide an easy-to-implement centrally managed portal solution that empowers companies to customize and deploy information and services rapidly via the Web. Working in conjunction with the Clientele CRM applications, it is expected to enable companies to build and deploy customer self-service options, as well as distribute internal or supply chain information in a personalized manner to users at every level.

"As businesses become more reliant on Web services, it is incumbent on Epicor to deliver the software, features and functionality that will not only enable the use of the technology, but that will improve the overall business model as it is implemented," said Doug Berry, vice president and general manager of Epicor's Clientele Group. "Customer self-service is one of the areas that has a major impact on business performance and we want to offer a reliable approach for enhancing our contact center offering while still retaining the ability to personalize the service to each individual need. Working with Cubic Compass, Epicor will continue to provide its customers with unrivaled performance and support for their business operations."

The Clientele Portal.NET customer self-service portal is currently expected to begin shipping in early Q4 2002.
