IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Start magazine, in cooperation with Microsoft Corp., honored EpicorŽ Software Corporation (Company Profile, Past Stories, Case Studies) (Nasdaq: EPIC - News) with a Software Enabler Award at the 7th Annual Technology & Business (T&B) Awards ceremony. A leading provider of integrated enterprise software solutions for the midmarket, Epicor was recognized for providing superior solutions in technology and business along side customer Standex International, who won a T&B Vertical Market Solutions Award for its implementation of Epicor VantageŽ, a complete end-to-end manufacturing solution that addresses the core business needs of midsized make-to-order (MTO) and mixed-mode manufacturers.

This is the second T&B win for Epicor, having achieved recognition in 2002 with customers Lakin General Corporation and DIX Metals, Inc., who both won T&B Vertical Market Solutions Awards in the metal fabrication category for Vantage implementations.

The T&B awards highlight successful investments in information technology by manufacturers and their technology enablers. "This year's winners epitomize what it takes to operate a successful manufacturing company in today's global economy," said Peggy Smedley, editorial director/publisher of Start. "The winners have clearly demonstrated their commitment and understanding of how technology can help them effectively improve and enhance their companies and their bottom lines."

The T&B Vertical Market Solutions Award presented to Epicor's customer Standex recognized the company for its vision in implementing advanced technology solutions to solve critical business issues. Standex International, headquartered in Salem, New Hampshire, is a diversified manufacturing and marketing company with operations in three product segments: Industrial Products, Food Service, and Consumer Products. With more than 90 plants and 48,000 products, Standex selected Epicor Vantage as an ERP solution that was comprehensive enough to handle the company's wide-ranging needs, support operations on a global basis, and yet provide a low total cost of ownership.

Each year Start enlists an independent panel of distinguished industry experts and financial analysts to choose the T&B Award winners. This year the judges included: Laurie Balch, Gartner/Dataquest; Julie Fraser, Industry Directions; Greg Gorbach, ARC Advisory Group; Marc McClusky, AMR Research; Noha Tohamy, Forrester Research; Ralph Rio, ARC Advisory Group; and, Alison Smith, AMR Research.

"It is an honor to be recognized with our customer Standex as a Technology & Business Award winner," said George Klaus, chairman, CEO and president of Epicor. "To be named a 'Software Enabler' validates that our solutions are facilitating manufacturers in making the most of their technology investments by increasing efficiency and productivity across all areas of their business, while delivering a rapid return on investment and low total cost of ownership."
